Sigma, you are spot on, shooting themselves in the foot, stupid!

I have contacted Alldocube directly and they were far more helpful and positive in their reply, what I would have expected. But it’s still getting returned, I think the Alldocube Aliexpress store has put me off buying from them again, I certainly wouldn’t accept getting it repaired and sent back to me.

how much will you pay to post it back though? thats what has put me off returns previously.

So it seems all units have the Type-C port only accepting 5W max charge rate, this is a real shame I’ve tried a few chargers and none will charger more than 5W, seems there is a limit on it. I’m not sure I’ll keep it now, think I’ll go back to the EZbook 3 Pro I’m going to miss the type-c port and touch screen, but over all I think the EZBP V4 will be much better in the long run.

Chris – could you try the Surbook stylus on the Cube 5x screen? I noticed you said it also has a goodix touchscreen so perhaps it may work.

No luck, it was one of the 5 or so I tested. Seems Cube’s one runs on another frequency or something. The office store never got back to me about the stylus, very poor!

My mi charger (multi phase) from gearbest arrived today. It actually charges pretty well, and using it while charging on the usb c does not cause the battery to decline (played some 1080p video etc). I was a bit concerned looking at your post above, but glad that I can now charge both my mobile and laptop with the same charger, and finally retire my ac adapter! I have not checked the wattage of the charge (no idea which linux app will display that),

strangely enough it seems to have gotten rid of the coil whine by having it plugged into the usb C, also figured out that was largely due to the turbo boost cpu option in bios – doesnt seem to make all that much difference when disabling it but thats also probably because im not a super heavy user.

i always find it interesting how all the laptops have completely different issues, its as if there is no consistency in any of the production runs, or even within the same run! all a sign of poor QC if you ask me, but i guess that comes with the low price – corners have to be cut somewhere….

Sigma, for the return postage it was €50, they have agreed to pay some of it at least, who knows if it will get there!!

I received my iwork5x 6 months ago and have used it only lightly as a travel laptop. Yesterday, the “L” has stopped working, no response at all with repeated pressing. I remapped “L” to another key but I really want a laptop not a tablet. I’m not expecting service from Cube or Aliexpress but I would like information about purchasing a compatible keyboard/touch pad module. Ideally, I could upgrade to a more reliable keyboard with a touch pad compatible with linux.  I’ve sent a question to “the seller” through Aliexpress
Looking under the battery I can see what looks like the back of the touch pad. It’s labeled, “Hantick” (manufacturer?) with part number HTX10570Tl V1.0 . There’s a paper label with what I guess is Cube’s part number, 816-3R80-001.  Google gives zero results for Hantick or the part number.

    Any suggestions?
