Mod in proximity sensor and LED?

So one major flaw with these tablets its the lack of LED and proximity sensors. Sucks that the tablets is not going to sleep mode when you flip your case over and its pretty hard to see if your device is actually charging and no LED notifications.

Since it is pretty easy to open this tablet up in wondering if it is possible to mod in these with a little bit of connecting and drilling? Software for it has to be there in a lollipop OS.
