SOLVED: Newbie, want to flash mirek190 5.0 v6 Android

Hi there,

received my X98 Air 3G (C5J6) just yesterday. As per booting with USB keyboard attached temporarily issuing an ESC to get into BIOS, I know it’s

CoreVersion 5.008, UEFI 2.3; PI 1.2, tpad 2.05, 7/20/2015 21:04:57     –> Well, I thought to see 2.02, what is 2.05 ?

It’s having Lollipop 5.0 and Windows 10 in dual-boot installed (got it from Geekvida directly from Germany). So far did nothing but changing from English to German in both Android and Windows. I’d love, however, to put mirek190’s 5.0 v6 ultra-light Custom Android on that device to get rid of that bloat-ware.

So I tried to do the trick using Intel Manufacturing Flash Tool. Start that one up into “Ready for flash”. Power on Tablet to boot into Intel Download aNd eXecute mode (DNX), once in DNX, plug in USB.

It fails however at 11%, by “failed to droidboot”. Don’t know it matters USB debugging in Android’s developer options is set. But I assume that would be just a matter if one were to adb supported reboot into droidboot from within normal Android.

Also tried to use mirek’s batch script. Starting from normal Android up, I can enter droidboot via the script (At least I assume, the menu with the Android puppet picture, in which I can switch via volume keys to “Normal Boot”, “Power Off”, “Recovery Mode”, “Restart Bootloader” to be the droidboot ?) Going on in the batch script also nothing happens, but a <waiting for device> for ever.

Any idea, what I am doing wrong ?

Just played around a little bit more. I cannot get into droidboot mode other than using mirek’s script. Vol- & Power don’t do the trick, goes into normal dual boot screen…

Not sure this is due my above BIOS version, as I didn’t read about tpad2.05 so far …

Or am I using wrong VID PID in Intel Mnfct tool? Took those from chris video at http://techtablets.com/2015/05/teclast-x98-air-3g-android-5-0-lolipop-rom-mirek190/ .

Maybe I need to stick to original settings right after installation of various drivers an Mnfct tool ?

PS: There is no such thing as using heimdall on linux for flashing the Air 3G… ? That’s what I do on my “ancient” Galaxy Note to flash 5.1.1.

UPDATE: Shame on me. I am such (an impatient) stupid. Ever teach my daughters, first read then act. Damn would I have seen TecKnight’s mentioning not to install iSOC drivers … Got rid of those, and guess what, now it works !

Mirek’s 5.0 v6 works like a charm.

Still having the dualboot option screen to select either OS. everything is as I wanted.

Since I am a What/Why,/Really ? guy, for curiosity and completeness:

1. BIOS tpad2.05 is this indicating a 2.05 BIOS, whatever this be ?
2. I assume given the Intel SoC we have the Intel Manufacturing tool is the best of all flash tools, or say safest, as it is the only one using the dedicated Intel Download aNd eXecute mode (DNX). DNX might be able to do some dedicated repair. Need to look that DNX up once …
3. I am just remembering that when using heimdall on Linux for flashing my ancient Galaxy Note N7000 to Lollipop 5.1.1 that <waiting for device> message for ever was related to fastboot not running on proper privileges. I am now almost sure I forgot to run Mirek’s bat script on administrator privileges, that might have been the easy reason it stuck at that message. Will never know, as I now went the Intel Mnfct tool path.

Thanks for this forum and hopefully, no one has already prepared to solve my problem. Just writing this down such that others may find it.

I have flashed a couple of Sony Xperia phones before but there were detailed instructions – I’ve downloaded the mirek190 v6 light but what next? There don’t seem to be any instructions or videos. I have a Teclast x98 air lll single boot Android 5.0 – someone in the forum said they’d already used this rom for their Air lll and the specs are almost the same as the Air ll. I’ve got a Chinese gaming app that tries to take over at inappropriate moments. Is the Mirek190 v6 download all I need? You talk about the Intel flash tool – do I need this?
Hope you can spare a moment – I’m not sure where to start
