No option to change brightness (Air 12)

I just got my xiaomi air 12 in from gearbest with an unregistered windows 10 pro installed as the OS, when i was going through I noticed I couldn’t dim the display at all so I did a factory reset of it and still nothing. I’m wondering if display dimming is locked behind the fact I don’t have a key or its something to do with the drivers. The current driver for the display is the generic pnp monitor one which says its up to date so I don’t know what else to do.
