    Nope.

You are not going to charge the tablet at 5V.

USB type-c is just a connector NOT A STANDARD. Seriously it is the most confusing connector in the history of computing.

There are so many non-standard cables and chargers.

Devices are getting fried from incompatible cables and chargers.

Just because it is a Type-C charger means absolutely nothing.

Samsung chargers put out their “adaptive fast charging”, Other chargers use Qualcomm’s Quickcharge : QC 3.0 (or 2.0) standard over USB Type-C – EVEN THOUGH THIS IS AN ILLEGAL VIOLATION OF SPEC.

Even though QC 3.0 might put out 12V – doesn’t mean anything because it needs the device to support QC 3.0

What you need to charge it is a USB PD (power delivery) capable type C charger – Like the macbook one to charge via the Type C port.

Otherwise maybe the easier option is to find a 12V power supply ~2A and a barrel connector that will fit – POSITIVE TIP ie: outside of the connector is negative.

The original i7 according to a video by powerelectronicsblog on youtube showed that able to charge at lower voltages down to somewhere between 8&9 volts. (I forget the exact value) So MAYBE if you could find a 9V power supply it would work too.

Or tap the 12V rails of a PC power supply (if you’re confident and know what you’re doing).

Any* type C lead should* work

    *provides it follows SPEC.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH TYPE-C CONNECTOR –

SO MANY CABLES AND CHARGERS ARE VIOLATING SPEC.

sorry I’m having to multi-post my discussions on this:

    follow that thread – page 1 &page 2 also I just updated

Accessories for cube i7 book (powerbanks, chargers, hdmi etc)

Benson Leung is a Google Engineer who highlighed this issue

    https://plus.google.com/+BensonLeung

    Follow his google+ page.

He is testing cables/chargers and highlighting/Reviewing WHAT is wrong with them and WHY they violate spec.

If you search his name people have tabled his results – via reddit but hasn’t been updated FOR a long time…

    ****

It IS INSANE how involved this ‘standard’ is…

This is obviously so crazy a ‘standard’ – it is confusing engineers…

And people get confused and mix up RCA composite connectors on their stereo/Television when they’re colour coded 8)

And *THEY* want to get rid of the trusty 3.5 mm headphone jack…. In favour of USB-C….

    NO NO NO… I’ll be using bluetooth…

I break enough headphones/usb cables now…. Does my phone’s usb connect need more abuse… HELL NO!
