You are probably better off with one from Microsoft. If you download the “media creation tool” from Microsoft, it automatically downloads the image and installs it onto a usb drive. You can boot off the USB drive and install it that way, it will automatically detect the license key from your BIOS.
January 3, 2017 at 3:16 am #59720I just received my Cube i7 Book and want to do a fresh install. What drivers do I need to install and where can they be downloaded from?
Also I was kind of dissapointed on the packaging. I ordered mine from Banggood and was expecting thentable to be in some kind of packaging from Cube. Not just arrive in a styrofoam box.
January 8, 2017 at 8:03 pm #60106So I used the media creation tool to reinstall windows. However when I have done this in the past I booted off the USB stick to do complet the reinstall. I wans’t expecting touch to work after the install. When I reinstalled windows 8 on my Dell Venue Pro 8 touch didn’t work. This was because the drivers needed to be installed.
I found the drivers on the download page. Do I need to istall all of those drivers?
Another question, how much disk space should I have? I currently have 34G free after reinstalling Windows.
March 2, 2017 at 9:30 pm #62932I used the media creation tool on another laptop to create a bootable USB and do a clean install of Windows on my Cube i7 Book. Installation went fine and I have a clean Windows install but I cant seem to activate this install. So I guess I selected the wrong version of Windows. I selected Dutch Windows 10 Home 64 bits, I thought the language would not matter for activation but I guess it does. Or did the Cube i7 Book originally not come with Windows Home 64 bits?
Could someone tell me which Windows version I need to select in the media creation tool to get it to activate automatically?
March 2, 2017 at 9:50 pm #62933It’s home 64bit. Language won’t matter, because activation is tied to the specific hardware that has already been activated. I actually tried to put win10 pro and it wouldn’t activate, so I had to put home back on there. Maybe you got the wrong version. Also sometimes it might take a little time to reactivate. You can call microsoft and they will activate it for you try this link — http://www.thewindowsclub.com/activate-windows-8-by-phone — Good Luck!

Well, looks like I’m screwed. It’s Windows 10 Home 64 bits for sure which I installed. Activation by phone is not present anymore in Windows 10. I emailed Banggood about this but dont expect too much from this. What I’d like is to install the Cube factory Windows 10 image. It’s available for download but it requires a baidu account. Is there someone out there with a baidu account that can create a mirror for me.
March 3, 2017 at 1:13 pm #62963Strange, mine says it’s Windows 10 Pro 64 bits.
March 3, 2017 at 1:33 pm #62965I got i7 book from banggood too. Microsoft support said it is activated by msdn key. Opened dispute in paypal. Waiting for their decision.

Where did you buy yours? Did you also get it from Banggood?
March 3, 2017 at 2:47 pm #62969Activation by phone is still present. I just activated a laptop by phone. You can try slui.exe 4 from a raised cmd prompt or from run. I know for sure you can do it by phone.

I’m fine, Thank you. I have a friend in the Netherlands that wanted to clean install windows 10. He had an activated copy already. When he used media creation tool and re-installed it did not activate. I told him to wait to see if it would activate. I t did not activate. I told him to put slui.exe 4 in a raised cmd prompt or into “run” He said that Microsoft doesn’t phone activate anymore, but it says you do in the help in the settings. Do you activate by phone now? Thank you

10:35 amMarch 3, 2017 at 3:49 pm #62973You can contact MSFT through the win10 “Settings” section either by direct chat OR a Call back. They will guide you to get to an activation page with slui.exe 4
