My Logitech trackball works well, but it uses Logitech’s proprietary usb wireless dongle.

Mine does the same. Its a Bluetooth mouse from banggood. I think that the WiFi receiver on the hi10 is easily swamped by noise. Having it near my kids baby video transmitter, or my radio control transmitter causes the same thing. Maybe a driver update could fix it, but I think its more likely a hardware issue

In fact even updating the drivers I still have some problems, but only with some wifi networks but not others I suspect that is because wireless channel used by the network, try changing channels, I  fix so!
