I think a more powerful version with this 3:2 screen is always welcome, but I believen a core M will come with some disadvantages:
- Heavier because the need of more heat dissipation and larger battery for acceptable working time
- No more dual boot
- A lot more expensive
I would prefer a version with the best performing Atom (currently the Z8700) to retain it’s current USP’s.
The only effect would be probably a small decrease battery life and a little bit more weight from a larger (copper) heat sink. And of course bit more expensive.

If you take a look at the pricing of tablets in the 200-400$ range, you can see that the 8300 Atoms come overpriced, whereas the Core Ms come under pressure and are often priced very competitively with regard to performance.
I just don’t see the bigger Atoms priced well enough to deserve their money; they’d be around the 350$ range, when one could get a CoreM with a little more money.
And I think this trend will continue…manufacturers like to make better money from the cheaper entry-level models and performance tablets are periodically priced very competitively.
The only advantage I might consider with stronger Atoms might be battery autonomy, but one must wait and see.

Perhaps the performance might be acceptable, but the point is whether they’ll be priced competitively with regard to the Core Ms…the price/performance ratio…
I just don’t see it….I expect the X8300 or whatever the entry level model is each year to be priced relatively high and the bigger models priced too close to the Core Ms…at least on a buying price (because I am not sure how many people bought the Cube i9 for $500+…they sell this models mainly during special sales.)
The only advantage, as I said, might be the battery life…but we don’t know yet.
