It is safe to say right now I guess the DVFS setting solved the issue. And thats awesome. I had a forced reboot in Android earlier while using it but I don’t think it’s related, I had those before.

Nice. And you’re getting a performance increase?

I had a reboot too in Android yesterday while I left it in standby. I will wait a few days before making a judgement.

Increasing memory speed only helps in situations where memory bandwith is the limiting factor. So it won’t help much in case of calculation intensive stuff for example because the poor atom processor will hold you back. But it can help in case of not very well optimized programs like Chrome for windows in which lot of memory copying is done to put stuff on screen. Touch scrolling is horrible with 1066 mhz setting but fairly good with 1600 mhz memory even on complex web pages with lots of pictures. However it won’t make every program fly, Firefox and Opera in Windows are as laggy as before for me.

Remember that the GPU uses the same memory as the CPU, so it should help 2d/3d performance in general.

You had a reboot in standby? No 🙁 Could be an Android issue though, because I had some reboots too with 1066 on Android. I think the realtek driver is really bad, could be a driver “bluescreen”. Is there a way to log bluescreens under Android btw? Does Android give any logs about kernel panic reboots? I had none anymore over the last days in standby. Without DVFS I had mostly a reboot or freez already just 2-3 minutes after I pressed the power button. What you say with it’s just noticeable in situation where memory is needed is totally not true, because the GPU memory is the ram. This means basic stuff like: browsing the web with Edge/Chrome, scrolling, Windows animatons, everything is way faster with 1600MHz. Do you have memory timings still on typical? Because I have, not changed them to fast. Maybe changing B frequency from 1066 to 800 could help even more?

Well, no reboots in the last 48 hours. Battery drain not too bad, 5h10m screen on time with 20 percent remaining, perhaps a bit worse than before but still enough for me.

I’ve had no issues with it over the past 24hours or so too

    Hello

Can you explain in a mini tutorial How to put the memory in 1600 Mhz? I know how to enter to the bios.

    Thanks

Directly after powering on press ESC several times, you need to have a keyboard attached to the tablet.

    In bios go to

    Chipset->North Bridge->Memory Configutation Options

    There put DVFS on ENABLE
DRAM A Frequency set to 1600

you can also but DRAM timings to FAST instead of TYPICAL in the bottom of the page.

The error message was: “IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL”, which could be ram error or driver error. Where can I find the crash dump in windows?

It’s unlikely though that it’s a driver. There arent any other drivers, Windows would install for this tablet.

Set freq B back to 1067mhz, no freezes so far.

Now after some days have passed how are your experiences with running memory at 1600?

I’ve noticed some instability, especially recently. It may not be related. Generally occurs after waking the tablet. I haven’t switched it back yet though

I’d like to point out that there will be sample variation between the ram chips even within the same batch, and some will tolerate overclocking and different voltages better than others.

Mine froze under Windows while watching a video a few days ago but since that no crash. Could be because I had timings on fast, switched back to typical.
