I am stuck in a quandary. My wife wants a tablet for her birthday and I need to deliver!

Looking over these fantastic reviews I have narrowed the choices down to:

    • Teclast X98 PLUS
    • Chuwi Hi10

At the moment I am leaning more towards the Hi10 for the full size USB and 3.0 support. That said I am worried the plastic housing would take away for the quality and durability. On top of this the screen on the X98Plus is a bit better and also has better batty life as well.

I am mostly only interested in Win10, dual boot into android is not important. As my wife would be the main user it would be seeing mainly browsing, facebook, email and the like. I would also like the option to play some games on it for when I have it but, I don’t need it to run the latest and greatest but at least something reasonable.

For those wondering why not the X98 PRO i have considered it but the battery life and temperatures quickly dissuade me and I do not have the confidence to mod it as Chris had.
So now we have it, if anyone has had the opportunity to see/use these machines in person how did they compare, which would you chose?

    Hi,

A hard one, because the X5 Z8300 is not so great at games and the X98 Pro’s X5 Z8500 is a better choice for gaming. However, since you say it’s for your wife and she will mainly use it for facebook and emails, a hardware keyboard dock that the Hi10 supports is definitely much better and the USB 3.0 port.

I just got my Chuwi Hi10 dock and if you have seen the ASUS Transformer Book T100 series it’s exactly the same. Not as high of quality but still not too bad. I’ll have a video review and photos of the dock up on the site soon. Just uploading the 3.8GB video of it.

The Hi10 screen isn’t bad, over I think it’s a great tablet for everything but gaming. And Banggood have both in stock https://www.banggood.com/search/chuwi-hi10.html

Chris, thanks so much for your input! You’re doing fantastic work btw.

I am looking forward to your take on the keyboard dock and that just may make the difference!

    Regards.

    Here’s the dock:

I got from here http://www.banggood.com/Bluetooth-Keyboard-for-Chuwi-Hi10-Tablet-p-1029045.html after Aliexpress failed to deliver yet again with promises to ship that didn’t happen after 2 weeks. Over all I like it, 10.1 inches so a little smaller than a normal sized keyboard and it will take a little to adjust too. But overall the build quality is good for what it is.

Excellent, thanks! Great review, I just pulled the trigger on the Chuwi Hi10 from Banggood and trying to convince the wife to go for the keyboard dock as well.

A quick question, can the tablet be placed in the dock ‘backwards’ (facing away) in order to simply use it as a stand or even closed to view only the tablet function?

Yes and no. It can be turned around, but it will not latch into the dock. But just sit there, so it could be used as a stand but not it’s not secured to it.
