Re-flash to Win 8 OR migrate all user settings to external drive?

I am awaiting a Chuwi Hi 10 from China (geekbuying) I’m trying to figure out how to tell Windows 10 by default to install all programs onto my external drive – of course I’ll leave the tiny 64 gb rom alone save for critical windows parts that need to be on the same drive as the OS. THE PROBLEM, is that Microsoft has made this very difficult with Windows 10. You cannot tell Windows to move the User folder like you could in the past (http://www.zdnet.com/article/dont-move-your-windows-user-profiles-folder-to-another-drive/) There used to be a registry hack that let you tell Windows that Program Files and Program Files (x86) is on another drive ( for Windows 8) (http://www.thewindowsclub.com/change-default-program-files-directory-windows)

BUT I’d also need to move the User folder, plus anything in Documents like Saved games plus my Appdata folder to the other drive.. It all has to install to the external – So, whats my solution?

Ya know Microsoft is allowing the selling of these Tablets, including their own Surface junk with these tiny 32 or 64 bit rom drives and they are restricting your ability to use another drive as you need to – How fair is that? With all these new tablets with tiny drives coming out, this problem needs a serious solution for the betterment of all – none of us can install much to these joke drives..  What are my options?

I’d rather do this with Win 10 and not void a warranty by installing Windows 8 if possible, but I’ll do what I have to do assuming I can make all this work with Win 8.

I dont see why you would need to do all this magic with different drives in the first place. Leave windows and user profile on c:, but save documents and all your data on the other drive (if you really need that much space).
By default there will be some 48GB of free space after windows instalation.

@ Fireant – I’m looking to do this simply to make everything easier. I choose not to personally tell every program where to install at installation time as well as all the other stuff programs want to put on the C drive, if I don’t have to. 48 gigabytes is nothing to me.. I use that up with only 2 or 3 programs. Heck, 48 gigs wouldn’t even hold my documents or Appdata ( which Windows 10 doesn’t want you to move at all)

Unfortunately, they do not sell these devices with large drives so I have to workaround. It makes no sense.. they give you the power of 4 gigs of ram and yet not enough space to use it unless you really don’t do anything with your tablet but use it as a netbook.. which defeats the purpose in the first place.
