Hello.

I own a Windows 10 only HI 12 and I’ve been trying to run RemixOs from an USB drive, but couldn’t make the HI 12 boot from it. After doing some research, I found how to install and set up Remix OS, particularly on a USB drive, to run Android on any PC.

 You need these:

• Windows PC
• Torrent Downloading Client
• USB 3.0 Stick with at least 8 GB (can handle FAT32 formatting and has a write speed of 20 MB/s)
• Remix OS USB Installer
• Remix OS 2.0
• BIOS (Basic Input / Output System) must have legacy boot mode activated

But the problem is that my HI12 doesn’t have a Legacy boot mode in the Bios.

Can anyone check this in yours and let me know? I think this is the only thing preventing me from running RemixOs from my USB drive. Maybe I need to update my BIOS.

The other thing I need to do is to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS, but couldn’t find it. I have the feeling that Chuwi changed the BIOS.

Hi,

I was unable to get a USB version of Remix OS to boot from the USB 3.0 port, but was able to get it booting from the USB 2.0 Port, so you could try that. This led me to believe that the USB 3.0 port was not able to boot devices in the BIOS, but a USB version of Windows 10 was able to boot up via USB 3.0 no problem.

When I did get Remix OS booting from the USB 2.0 Port, it seemed to work fine. The Android app experience and few games i tested was very slick (much faster than apps through the AmiDUOS emulator). However, i needed to plug in a USB Hub into my USB 3.0 port in order to get my USB Wifi Stick, USB Bluetooth stick to use WIFI and Bluetooth).

The problem with Remix OS on this device as i think <span style=”color: #f84103;”>BoORD_L</span> mentioned somewhere else is that it does not support Touchscreen, built in Wifi, Bluetooth, Sound (and other things i cannot remember). This all leads it to be something that is not really worth using. However, if these issues can be resolved, then I would no longer worry about not having Android on the Windows 10 only model. I would not hold my breath on this happening however.

Robbie, thanks for the response. I’m doing testing and research on this as our only Android solution for Windows 10 owners. I know we’re not the only ones playing with RemixOs.

Due to work, I didn’t have time to continue my crusade, but the weekend is coming, so I’ll go on until I succeed! If not, then I’ll had a good time drinking wine and bricking my HI12! LOL

I’m successfully running RemixOS from a flash drive. So far, Android is running ok. The only problem is that WiFi is not working. Once I fix this, I plan to create a partition and install it permanently. I’ll not need dual OS! LOL
