I replaced the speaker with a unit from a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. Everything working well. Sound is a lot better and no problems so far.

i once had the 5800XM, the speaker produces very nice clarity.

assuming that the one you’re using is the genuine 5800XM’s, i bet now your tablet produces music clarity and loudness the same class as apple ipad’s speaker LOL.

the sound is alot better but still far away from perfect. its a bit roaring. the back vibrates. maybe i will try to dampen the back.

I’ve found my speaker is “missing sound” at lower volumes. If the volume is less than 50% the quieter tones are almost inaudible, whereas the louder tones are audible. Everything is good if you’ve got the volume up at 50% or greater.

Not sure if I have a faulty speaker or this is a design limitation with poor quality speaker.

So my Hi8 has a crack in the corner and the battery is dying fast now. Naturally i decided it was time to mod it πŸ˜‰

I also happened to have a broken 2009 mac mini lying around so I decided to take the speaker and put it into my Hi8

The resulting sound is awesome! The speaker is just a little big so I had to mod my case and let the speaker sit on the back of the tablet. I don’t mind it but the tablet is no longer flat πŸ˜‰ .

I made a speaker cover out of a deodorant cap, some wire mesh, and spray paint. It came out pretty decent so i decided to share some pics πŸ™‚ .

I’ve done better before but this cost $0.00 and very little time lol.

I’m thinkingΒ  of doing a battery mod because I have 2 extra 3.8v batteries with the same mah laying around.

I would just need to figure out how to fit them in πŸ˜‰

    nice mod

if you ever manage to connect 2 batteries and make it work i would be very interested in the results. i kinda figured it would be easy to connect 2 high mah batteries, especially the slim samsung batteries.

also, can somebody give me the battery dimensions, i’m too lazy too open it now. i wanna check if this one fits
