Hi Tedd, the G1D_S165_206 BIOS is supported by the droidboot.img linked to in this post. If that doesn’t work for you then we’re stuck because I need a working Vi10 to add support for extra BIOS versions and my Vi10 is presently dead, though probably fixable (I’m waiting for a 1.8V programming adaptor).

So sad, with this droidboot.img same trouble, as i say earlier twrp is booting but touchscreen didn`t work(( and windows not booting(( Jonathan, listen, may be I can somehow apply your usb-fix patch on G1D_S165_205 bios? Because on 4pda.ru (http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=660077&view=findpost&p=41845158) forum i found tutorial to flash 205 bios, but it not reset bios setting to default and usb not work also.

The touchscreen doesn’t need to work, it just helps to see what’s going on (or wrong). The fix itself automatically runs when TWRP starts, however, I put some strict checks in the utility to only let it run on BIOS that I’ve verified. You are probably hitting up against one of those checks, which I could probably remove if I had my Vi10 working, but unfortunately I don’t 🙁

I’ll have a think about this to see if I can work around the issue…

In the meantime, can you please confirm:

    1. Your tablet’s serial number.
    2. That your USB issues only started after you changed a BIOS setting.
    3. What setting you changed to cause this.

    1. its strange but in android settings s/n 01234567890123456789, i think it`s not real serial… =\
on bottom frame vi10 q32g22150505732, also i have try to find original package box, i think real s\n can be there
      2. usb issue start few days ago before i try reflash bios, i don’t know what’s going wrong but i use a tablet very careful and don’t upgrade any firmware, even i use win8.1 and don’t upgrade to win10. And in  sunday i found that my original keyboard don`t work, in first case i think that keyboard is dead, but then i try to plug-in externel usb keyboard, result was 0, and than i try to plug-in usb memory stick, and result was the same 0. Ofcourse i have try to reboot my tablet at least 4-5 times in android and than in windows, and result was same – usb not work.
      3. Than i try to reflash bios. and first of all i flash it from windows by H2OFFT-W, but usb do not fix, than i try to flash bios from android, by tutorial from 4pda, after that windows don’t booting up, usb don’t work, and i have stock android 4.4.4
P.s. Sorry for my bad English.)

Tedd, your English is better than a lot of native speakers I see online and also a lot better than my Russian which is non existent 😉

The serial number I was after is the one containing 221505.

Now, I’m sorry to say this but my fix only works if a USB setting has been changed in BIOS setup that causes the USB ports to stop working. It sounds to me as though this isn’t what has happened in your case, it looks like the USB ports just failed on their own. This looks like a hardware issue to me.

I haven’t checked the 4pda tutorial to make sure but generally the procedure for flashing Android using DnX mode removes the Window’s partitions. That would be my guess at why you’ve lost Windows. I can see a potential way of restoring Windows but unfortunately at the moment I can’t do anything to investigate such a solution.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news 🙁

    Jonathan, thanks for help!)
However i think and hope that USB alive, because micro-usb port on tablet working in DnX-mode and in ADB-mode, by this port tablet recognise in my HOME-PC (iSoc driver, adb driver) and can reflash, and this fact give me some little hope that hardware usb controller work fine!) But actually it just my thinking…

You have a good point there, something is alive and well. The uses of the micro USB port that are working are all device mode though.

Does your tablet get recognised when you boot Android and connect it to your PC?

Have you tried using the micro USB port to connect a keyboard?

Yes, PC recognise android, and from android i can flash by fastboot or adb any i want.
But when i plug-in any items by micro-usb->OTG, not keyboard, not mouse, not usb-stick flash drive, do not recognise in android system.

Do you have a volt meter? Can you check for 5v on the USB port power lines? (the pogo pins are easy to test)

The fact that you can see the tablet with adb when you boot Android suggests the BIOS/BIOS settings are OK (except maybe the VBUS or device settings which my utility does not attempt to fix since they normally change automatically between Windows and Android boots).

On the Vi10 main board there is a hub chip for the standard A ports and the docking keyboard, but it is not connected to the micro USB port. Therefore I suspect a power issue since it’s the most likely single point of failure for all the host enabled ports. There might not be much that can be done about that though.

You do have the docking keyboard disconnected at the moment?

Have you checked the pogo pins for shorts to the metal strip etc?

Jonathan, you right. I check pogo pins by multimiter and how your are suspect voltage between pin is not higher than 0.1v.  I starting to suspect that cause of all that usb-problem in high temperature in cpu-area, i use my tablet about one year and for that time the tablet few times went to trottling and hang out also. Now i see the last chance to fix it,  it’s to try disassembe the tablet, maybe inside on motherboard i saw somethig wrong in there.)

It’s probably best to wait a while for other opinions before opening your tablet but for reference:

    1. If you face the screen with the pogo pins pointing down the power pins are the leftmost and the second from the right.
    2. The 4 screws on the sides must be removed, they are torx t4.
    3. There are YouTube videos of opening the Vi10.
    4. The IC that provides VBUS to the ports is on the underside of the PCB.
    5. The ribbon connectors all have clamps that are stuck down with a soft adhesive.
    6. There is a shield that covers the SoC, eMMC, RAM, Flash and PMIC.
    7. There is second shield that covers something else(probably WiFi)
    8. Both shields are covered with tape but you don’t need to peel it all off (in fact it’s probably not worth taking them off)
    9. The shields are only clipped in but if you choose to take them off please support the PCB.

Okay, let’s wait for other opinions.
Between leftmost and second from the right 0.1v…(
    Thanks, Jonathan.
