Hi,
I have ordered the tablet from DX. Had battery problems from the beginning. While charging the first time the screen went crazy. The tablet was unusable. So I turned the tablet off while charging. After 8-10 hours the battery wouldn’t charge further then 85%. After a complete discharge I tried again and now the battery was stuck on 75%. After my second discharge the tablet is dead. It won’t charge anymore and the charging light is not showing anymore when usb cable is connected. I think the battery is depleted. (Does someone know how to fix this?)
I am very disappointed. Created a ticket, but no answer so far from DX.
That being said.. The tablet looks and works great. Fast, beautiful screen and didn’t get hot while using. Unfortunately the battery was flawed from the beginning.
February 15, 2016 at 2:28 pm #26036I have the same problem. The tablet is doing nothing, the LED doesn’t turn on, etc. I hope there is a fix, because I already sent a Chuwi Hi8 to SAT (local SAT at Spain, where I’m from) because screen glitches.

have you tried holding the power button for a long time? does the battery charges?
On my side I’m worried about the battery: as it seems to report its status incorrectly, the charging never stops which is really dangerous! (i tried more than 10h charging, it continues to blink indefinitely after 99%)
February 17, 2016 at 3:54 am #26225I have the same issue, about dying battery (I hope not dying tablet).
The Hi8 pro don’t start, the led don’t even turn on. it just completely dead. I hope there is a solution for this issue soon.
February 17, 2016 at 7:08 pm #26306Yes I’ve tried holding the power button while charging, without charging….
February 21, 2016 at 4:04 pm #26611The charging process works very well in my case, however my HI8 Pro does not inform me about the low battery level. At ca. 40% it sudddenly turns off without any notification. Do you have any sollution ?

@cezary: this surely due to the battery report being wrong: in my case, the battery reports to have 7900mah max capacity (!) while its design capacity is 4300mah (more realistic). This completely breaks the battery charge report, as I can hold 3-4h up to 40-50%, then the battery is suddenly killed within 5-10 minutes…
I wrote to DX about my issues, with the battery, screen and bricking issues I will send it back and buy a tablet from a “real” brand I think…
February 22, 2016 at 1:55 am #26661Hi. The dynamic brightness thing is something that can be switched off in the Intels Graphics Options.
And I was able to almost fix the battery level by letting the battery fully drain and letting it rest for about 5 hours. Then charged it and letting it rest again for another hour or two before switching it on again. Now the indicator its much more reliable as the battery is empty at about 12 percent instead of 50.
February 23, 2016 at 12:47 pm #26786I just received this email from Chuwi
Dear Daan,
Thank you for your e-mail.
I am sorry for delaying replying you due to Chinese New Year.
Our engineers are trying to fix those problems and I am not sure whether these problems can be fixed or not.
I would like to apologize to you again.
Sincerely yours,
AlisaOh boy if they aren’t being able to fix those problems we all got expensive paperweights.
February 23, 2016 at 8:45 pm #26842I received my Chuwi Hi8 Pro tablet today, it seems to have the screen burn in problem from what I can tell… And the battery level indicator in Windows 10 seems to be off as well, it shut down on me when the battery level was still at 20-25%. Multiple attempts to boot up the tablet were unsuccessfull, so I plugged it in the PSU. I was able to boot up the Hi8 Pro again after a minute or so of charging. I’m going to fully charge it and see it if still has the issue or not…
I wonder what Chuwi can do to fix this issue… 🙁
February 25, 2016 at 5:57 pm #27052Yes I just experienced this now, not good. My battery was at 36% running 3Dmark benchmarks for my review and it turned off. Couldn’t power it on for a while and when I plugged it in it’s at 2% charge, what the hell. It seems it was over-reporting the battery or the calibration is way off.
Noted this for my review, the Vi8 I have doesn’t have this issue at all. Now we need Chuwi to release a fix for this.

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30February 25, 2016 at 8:16 pm #27076And now the Chuwi Hi8 Pro doesn’t even want to turn on… Plugging it in the charger doesn’t help, the LED doesn’t even come on or blink, it’s as if the tablet is completely dead…
Anyone in here knows how to fix this problem ? Or is this a case of DOA and return to sender ??? 🙁 🙁 🙁
Oh, 1 more thing : don’t bother buying a tempered glass screen protector for this tablet : the screen isn’t completely flat (it seems to be concave) so you will have air bubbles on all sides of the screen (the same issue as with the Chuwi Hi10)… Go for the cheap plastic ones if you want to put one on…
February 26, 2016 at 12:27 am #27115Try this, hold the power button down for over 10 seconds. 15 to make sure. Plug it in and leave it for a good 4 hours or better overnight. If it fails to boot, try hold for 10 seconds, then 3-4 seconds, release and then 304 again. If you get nothing it’s dead.
My Hi8 Pro is alive again after doing this. No too happy about this, I mean the Vi8 Plus is fine, the only difference is the screen right? And maybe a different bios is to blame.

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30February 26, 2016 at 10:56 am #27173I’m another with a dead Hi8 pro. It worked for about 3 hours out of the box, had some random crashes while trying to go through windows update, managed to restart it a few times but finally it died and wouldn’t turn on. Now the charging light doesn’t even come on. I’ve contacted both GearBest and Chuwi who so far have offered the generic… hold power down for 10 secs. It’s really disappointing as my first experience of Chuwi products.
February 26, 2016 at 11:57 am #27176The tablet is laying on the shelf doing nothing for a week. Just connected it to the usb charger and the light is suddenly blinking. After literally 40+ attempts the tablet booted into Windows. Unfortunately no time to cheer.. The same problem with the dropping battery percentage occurred. Finally after a restart the tablet would not boot anymore.
I have a reply from DX with an RMA number. I am going to return it. My first experience with Chuwi is really disappointing.
