Seeking guidance on tablets

Hello all,

I’m new to the Chinese tablet market and am cautiously considering dipping my toe in the water. I’ve been running around in circles for the past week looking at the various possibilities and still feel like I’m only starting to scratch the surface of what’s out there.  At first, I was looking at the Onda and Teclast z8300 dual boot tablets. Then I discovered that there were *z8500* tablets and my entire search changed. For a while I went down that rabbit hole. I then found out that there were actual CORE M dual boot tablets. The sun shone down and angels sang. Unfortunately I’m still finding it really difficult to find something that matches up with what I’m seeking.

This site has some of the best information I’ve seen anywhere and I’m hoping you kind people will be able to offer some advice on where to find what I seek for a reasonable price.

Of course everyone wants all the power and functionality for no money at all. A 6 oz. supercomputer that runs 6 operating systems at once, and costs under $50 would be nice, but I know that’s not going to happen. 🙂

My somewhat more modest wish list in a tablet:

• 9.7″ screen or above with a resolution higher than 1920×1080. 1920×1200 will do, but my preference is for the higher rez screens.
• The best processor I can get. Core M skylake would probably be ideal, but a z8500 at the least.
• As much RAM as I can get. Minimum of 4GB.
• Dual boot to Windows 10 and Android 5.1, preferably with a decent Android ROM and ideally with a path to Marshmallow eventually.
• Good wireless and Bluetooth
• A price in the $200-250 range would be best.

Some other notes from my search so far:

The Teclast x98 Pro is the strongest contender so far but I’m concerned about the heat issues.

The Onda V919 3g with the core M processor looked interesting but the video review detailing all the problems with it that Chris made convinced me that maybe that was a bad idea.

Teclast X98 Pro is really the only tablet that fits your needs. Windows battery life is around 4-5 hours only. But with Mirek190’s latest ROM in Android you can get close to 8 hours. The Onda V919 Core M is full of problems, I wouldn’t go near it. I wasted a huge amount of cash reviewing that pile of poop. I had to post it back to China and lost on the postage and lots of time getting my refund, an absolute nightmare.

Thanks Chris. I appreciate the help. I think that’s probably the way I’ll go. I may even use the heat fix from your video if I’m feeling bold. 🙂

As a follow up, is there a Core M that would fit my criteria if I upped my price threshold a bit? The extra power would be lovely if I found myself doing Windows things a lot.

The specs are really appealing as is the price, but no native dual booting to Android means I’m probably going to have to stick to the Teclast; my search for a tablet started with me wanting and Android tablet. Then there was feature creep. 🙂
