Well all tablets have their issues, and you don’t normally get people searching for a forum to look and post for help if it’s working just fine. The forums are a place to find help for problems here as there is no official forum in English. The first issue one you mentioned I have yet to experience on my units, it could happen to mine and when it does I will report on it. But there is a fix here: X98 Pro Solution to crash in Windows, black screen and not booting afterwards!
The dead eMMC or corrupted eMMC is quite rare. It’s up to you but if you’re worried, cancel and buy a local name brand tablet you can always walk into a shop and get a replacement for. Or look at the Surface 3, that’s an awesome tablet with a similar spec and better screen, build + it has a great keyboard.
These Chinese tablets are a lottery at times, specially the first batchs, I have always said this and will continue to do so!

Ordered and waiting for my: BMAX S15 & Teclast F6 Plus
Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30October 22, 2015 at 3:35 am #13891This tablet is a risk. I’m satisfied with mine but not wildly ecstatic about it. It does what I need it to do (which is replace a power hungry laptop for light to moderate use – less power draw on a small off-grid solar system) and I can live with the down sides since I don’t need it to be an all day mobile device. I have external battery packs for that, too, if need be.
I would not recommend the tablet if you intend to use it on battery power most of the time. Unless you are OK with finding wall power or having battery banks as part of your daily routine, as well.
October 22, 2015 at 7:36 am #13905You hit the proverbial nail on the head with your observation “I can’t find a tablet with the same specs at this price from Cube, PiPo, Onda, etc…”
Neither could I – which is why I opted for an X98 Pro – At one stage I was going to purchase a Surface Pro 3 but I simply didn’t need all that processing power and couldn’t really justify paying in excess of a £1000.
By selecting a tablet for a mere £150, I will accept the “quirks” with the knowledge that I can upgrade in another 6-9 months time for a superior tablet for approximately the same price. As I stated in a different thread, I entirely expect the quality of dual boot devices to improve as other manufacturers start producing their own.
October 22, 2015 at 4:38 pm #13941Hello mate, even with the problems I’ve had with my first one of these. I’m still excited about owning one that works with quirks. I’m drawn to this tablet as much for the small issues (as long as they can be resolved of course) as I am the price. If you’re ok with dealing with these issues (including potentially having to have it replaced) then it’s a great deal
October 23, 2015 at 11:30 am #13987I don’t find any better tablet at the moment that have similar specs for that price. Do you guys recommend it or is to much of the risk. It will be basically used in daily frequency for browsing and maybe for some gaming. The things that worries me are “stuck at bios” and battery problems. If this problems will be fixed i don’t se any other big disadvantages of buying it.
I already ordered the tablet but still have the time to cancel it.
October 23, 2015 at 4:18 pm #13992Don’t go with a herd. Let chinese know – we don’t buy crap!
A product is supposed to work if they want our bucks.October 23, 2015 at 4:20 pm #13993Also never had problems with the first K9C6 (apart from the battery and throttling as per my review), but my K9C6 is working okay. But not 100% trouble free. Just that I can make it crash if I connect a USB drive to it when the battery is low in Windows. But applying the fix here: Might have solved this: http://techtablets.com/forums/topic/solution-to-crash-in-windows-black-screen-and-not-booting-afterwards/
As for the not booting past the bios, that is just down to luck. You would have to be very unlucky to have that issue.

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30October 23, 2015 at 4:50 pm #13998Thanks Chris. I will gamble a little and buy it. It’s my first tablet and i don’t see any need to give twice as much money for a name. Also i don’t have issues with performing some tweaks to improve working of tablet…ofcourse if there are proper guidance how to do it.
October 27, 2015 at 2:06 pm #14313I was shipped a dead one, all I can tell you is not to buy it from Gearbest. I should have cancelled the order when I had the chance, they took 2 weeks to ship when they advertised 3 days. I picked up the tablet from DHL and it will not start after changing all night. It’s dead basically. And they shipped the wrong charger too. I have 2 tablet chargers and the tablet doesn’t indicate it is charging and it won’t boot after being on a tabelt charger all night.
Avoid Gearbest if you decide to get this tablet is all I can suggest.
