I have a problem with slow charging with first batch of ezbook 3 pro (gold one, has toshiba mmc and intel ac wifi). It has come with 12V/3A adapter but only charges with 12W (measured from wall) when turned off, and it draws max 18W when powered on (even with TDP limit removed, max brightness, wifi, bt on and 100% gpu&cpu usage -3dmark test) which is only HALF of what adapter is rated… I tested this at 40% battery as I know that from 80% to 100% its normal to charge slow…
I have an older bios from march, can anyone test this with newer bios and maybe with newer batch?
Thanks!
August 13, 2017 at 10:12 pm #70531Could you try another charger? I have a 12v 3A one with a 3mm plug positive is in the middle and it works fine.
However using Battery Pro and HWinfo. max charge rates I see are about 14W on the Apollo lakes. So about normal, I’ve only see 35W+ on the Mi Notebook 13 with it’s 65W charger.
How long does it take to charge? Remember if you remove the TDP it’s consuming alot more than it’s designed to so charging will be very slow when in use and doing something demanding, even to the point where the charger might not be even able to charger it.

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30August 13, 2017 at 11:32 pm #70543I dont have another charger to test, but I was hoping for a faster charging speed .. now its around 3,5-4 hours when in use. I dont know why they supply 36W charger if whatever I do with the laptop (idle, TDP limit 6W, 0% brightness or full load with no TDP limit and 100% screen brghtness) it always draws 18W from the wall (except in sleep its 12W). The charger also barely gets warm as it operates at 50% designed output power… I know that this is a budget laptop and they save money wherever they can – so its strange they supply 3A adapter if 2A should have been enough.
Also I think I can make this laptop take QC2 charge (12V/1,5A ) from QC2 adapter or for example Xiaomi powerbank 2 (20Ah) with a little mod. I ordered this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2016-newet-arrive-QC2-0-QC3-0-quick-Charger-Trigger-Power-Bank-Test-Board-USB-Female/32686950937.html
Will report back when I get it…
August 14, 2017 at 1:03 am #70544I find charging takes about 3.5 to 4 hours. Version 2 and 3.
