I haven’t found any info about RemixOS, I too am waiting for that. in the mean time you can do the following:
- root and install custom recovery
- install xposed, search explicitly for hi8, there are issues with generic tutorials. install amplify plugin.
- install titanium backup, remove all apps you don’t need.
- install adaway
that should do it
December 20, 2016 at 10:44 pm #59006Whilst attempting to try Linux on mine, I had set my max C state to C1 which doesn’t allow low power mode. I think it made a fair difference setting it back to C7. Just something I came across recently.
The current Android image is very clean compared to the original it shipped with. Zero bloatware, dodgy Chinese apps etc. Maybe consider reflashing that if you haven’t already?
Define “bad” though?
December 21, 2016 at 7:44 am #59017The stock rom may seem clean but it is full of unoptimized apps. once you install amplify you see how many wakelocks it gets. it used to go through 20% of battery over night
now it does not.
August 16, 2024 at 7:10 am #233533If you have a stock of Hi8 tapes and are wondering where to go from here, you have a few solid options depending on your goals. If preservation is a priority, consider digitizing your Hi8 tapes to ensure their content is safe from degradation. You can use a Hi8 camcorder or deck with an analog-to-digital converter to transfer footage to your computer. Once digitized, you can store the files on an external hard drive or cloud storage, making them easier to access and share. If you’re looking to edit or repurpose the footage, plenty of software can help you enhance the quality, apply effects, or even remix the content for creative projects https://rubmd.net/. Finally, if the tapes hold significant personal or historical value, you might want to preserve the original tapes in a safe, climate-controlled environment while having digital backups for daily use.

March 1, 2025 at 5:10 pm #239762Hi Guys. Trying to make my hi8 better. mainly using android, but the battery is not good. Has anyone tried the latest remix OS to see if it’s overall better?
how long have you used it? Using it for too long also affects battery life. Candy Clicker
