Hoping someone can help me with a problem.

When I got my Hi12 last week, I tried SketchUp, a 3D cad program and was very happy with how it worked, but since then I somehow lost one important functionality and , for the life of me, can’t figure out how to get it back or what caused it to be lost.

Previously, I could hover with the pen about 2mm above the screen and a different cursor would show up on the CAD model and would move along with the pen until I touched the screen which then selected that point (click). Now, no cursor is shown on the screen until I touch which simultaneously acts as a click.

Does anyone have any idea of what I’ve done to change this? I am almost certain that it was not a Sketchup setting that was changed, rather something to do with the OS or maybe even an update that was installed.

Also, does anyone know of a software which lets one reconfigure the pen settings, for example to use a pen button click as mouse click instead of the screen touch?

    Thank you.

Go to the classic version of Control Panel, there you’ll find and icon labeled “Pen and Touch”. You’ll probably be able to find what you need there. Good luck.

I have never seen a cursor when hovering the pen above the screen, always have to touch it. Correct me if I am wrong, I want this mouse alike feature too.

Hi there, the hover cursor (officially called the pen cursor) was definitely there. After a lot of searching I found that Dell Verso 8 users had the same issue with what seems to be a very similar stylus. There were a few people who noted that a new battery solved the issue (it seems that they were experiencing battery drain when the pen was stored too close to the tablet). I’ve ordered a new one and will report back when I have tried it.

    Thanks

A battery didn’t solve the issue BUT I was able to get this for work again for a while.

After turning off the HI12 for a few hours and restarting windows, the pen cursor is appears again, but disappears after about 90mins.

It seems that the Dell Venue 8 had the same issues until a new pen design was released. http://forums.windowscentral.com/dell-venue-8-pro/269625-stylus-cursor-disappeared.html

Can anyone confirm that they also have the cursor disappear/reappear as above (see link for photo of cursor)?

Have you tried to turn off your tablet for a hour and reboot to windows (this only appears in windows) to see if you have it for a while after reboot?

I’ve never seen a hover cursor with mine (a dual boot) but I’m going to poke at this a bit. Hover cursor is what I miss the most with this otherwise very serviceable stylus.  It is accurate enough that I don’t miss it for graphics work but I do miss it for replicating mouse functions.

So far I’ve turned on all the mouse ease of access settings that worked for other devices with similar hardware but have still never seen a hover cursor.

Has anyone else ever seen a hover cursor?

My pen just works, I didn’t have to turn on anything.

Thou eraser on the button is not very useful.

PS: I haven’t held a pen or written anything by hand in this decade, so please no bully 🙂

EDIT: I meant to post in How does activation of the pen work?

Hi, same problem here. Very decent pen but the lack of hover support makes it useless in many software.

Has anyone manage to get the hover working?
