Tbook 10 – Stylus freezes, can not connect – where can I get support?

Hi

as it seems, that might be the only discussion platform in the world, regarding teclast devices? or the only non chinese one 😉

Well I got my tbook 10 2 days ago and I’m very happy with it so far.

My Stylus arrived today and I made the following experiences:

• Charged it 6 hours. While charging red light. After 4 hours red light off, not heat from the battery. Probably fully charged.

Tried to connect via bluetooth in android:

• pushed the button on the back of the pen, lights up blue
• tablet shows mac-adress and unknown device in bluetoot search dialog.
• long press on the back of the stylus, blue and red alternative flashing. stylus turns off.

Tried to connct via bluetoot in windows:

• pushed the button on the back of the pen, lights up blue
• tablet shows  unknown device in bluetoot search dialog. The device alternatively shows twice than back once and so on.
• after a few seconds and error message occurs. stating connection failed and that I should try again.
• The stylus freezed. It can not be turned off anymore. Blue light stays on. No reset function. Long press stylus-button, nothing happens. No automatic battery saving turn off. Probably stays on until the battery is drained (which does not help with the battery life).
• (By the way connecting the stylus to the charging cable results in magenta light. Some kind of charging red mixed with the consistent blue).

Conclusion:

• As android does not know the stylus, probably it has not been designed for android. Except of samsung s-pen and built in digitizer there do not exist many solutions.
• As windows does not know the stylus, there needs to be a bluetoot driver deployed by teclast -> Is there any support or download area from the manufacturer?
• As the stylus freezes while trying to connect with wrong drivers in windows, It would be fine to have a manual coming with the pen, explaining how i could be reset. Maybe the pen might need kind of firware update -> Can the pen be firmware updatet at all?

Any help would be appreciated.

@HellMatt. Thank you, I appreciate your help.

Meanwhile I got some news. It really looks like the problem is with my particular stylus and not a general one:

• The chinese vendor, where I opened a dispute answered me (see attachement).
• He states, the device is not connected via bluetooth. Seems I saw some devices of neighbours and family members showing up in the bluetooth diaglog.
• There also are mouse button functions integrated (described in the attachement), opposite to the statements of this video: https://youtu.be/clMOLvzp8HI
• I even removed the screenprotector to get better contact. In the video of the above link, the stylus scratches the protector, this was true for me too. But the stylus did not harm the glass so far. Opposite to the video, there was no reaction at all with my stylus touching the screen (with or without button pressing).
• Stylus now running for an impressive 20 hours not able to shut it off.
• Found that the manufacturer states the stylus to be an “active writing” not active stylus (scroll down to the advertizing picture): http://www.teclast.com/en/zt/Tbook10/  – http://www.teclast.com/en/zt/Tbook10/images/Tbook10_zt_16.jpg althoug in the youtube-video linked above the tester found it to be not active and not palm rejecting.

So I’m interested in your experiences, but your stylus should really do well, as the one of the youtube-test-video did and will maybe do better without screen protector on the screen.

I just received my stylus, it seams battery is empty, so I’m charging it right now, I’ll test it later 😉

EDIT :

I just tested it for fast, it’s working well for me, just push once the button, light turned blue, I tested on Paint on Windows, can draw easily, and my tablet have palm rejection, not like in the video of TechTablet

I don’t know how to turn it off, it Pink when on + charging, and after some minutes Blue light turn off so it should be off now

So I’m happy about this stylus, except the lack of 2 buttons like on others stylus

Great to hear from you @HellMatt. I’m still interested in your experiences and I also reviewed again the youtube-clip from techtables yt-channel.
Yes do a serious charging of the battery. This might be good for the overall battery life.

• Meanwhile my stylus lasted frozen for over 50 hours, staying on – an impressive battery life. I then tried to recharge and turn it on again. But the same way, I could not turn it off, after it froze, I can now not turn in on anymore.
• Also as my package was dented, I found that the front-part of my pen could be removed and I can confirm, what there is told in the youtube clip, the tip indeed is of metal and there is no way of pressure sensitivy. The tip is soldered directly to a small circuit board which is fixed within the pen.
• Palm rejection, seems not to be present according to the yt-clip. This is important too me. So I decide after your triout, if I order a new stylus, or rather wait for a better solution (off-topic: I found, that devices like surface 3 or surface 4 pro also don’t have a wacom-circuit in the screen, the way samsung s-pen works, but microsoft managed to have their stylus-driver hardware encoded, not allowing their pen’s to be used by the competitors. But now samsung will release probably by autumn (according to fcc documents) the ej-uw700 bluetooth stylus, with pressure sensitivy and palm rejection. I look forward to getting this one).
• I was just chatting with aliexpress customer support. I will have to pay for a new stylus. The vendor (shunli guo) accepted my dispute but wants me to send the item back on my own cost for getting a refund. The refund would be 30 usd. My shipping cost would be 20 usd! So this will add to my experiences with china-stores 🙁 – Where did you buy your stylus?

I payed a lot but I’m glad it’s working nice, I’m a bit sad cause it’s not working at all on Android, I wanted to use it for some Coloring apps

I just tested it on OneNote, it’s as bad as the YT video

I wonder if the other Teclast Stylus is better or not, it have 2 buttons on it

And now my blue light don’t want to get off (Edit : I posted too fast, the light blinked Red and Blue and then light off, stylus should be off now)

I’m really glad to hear, that yours is working fine. I found, that we ordered at the same store (E-live Technology Limited).

Regarding the android-input: Did you try an app like sketchbook from autodesk? You might also try the official handwriting input from google: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.handwriting.ime As I was looking up this app, I found, that the logo reminds me on something preinstalled on the tbook 10 (maybe the chinese version).

Regarding the missing buttons, you should try what the E-Live-Technology-Limited – Support told me concerning the button on the top of the stylus: Click means select, double-click means confirm, long click mean the right button function. – I would be interested if this works, before I decide to order a new one.

Tryed Sketchbook and Google Handwriting, the stylus still don’t work on Android

Long press on the button put it off, the they meant Click on screen for Select, Double-Click to launch applications, and long press for right click, that work only on Windows and no stylus needed for that

I think only Capacitive stylus work with Android, and the Teclast one works only with Windows

Well, thank you for all your testing. I think for that price and for using all the windows stylus productivity apps, the stylus is really not bad.

I too, was hoping, that android works. It has never been mentioned in the description of the tbook 10, that android wood work too. You know, android 6 (Marshmallow should have native stylus support. Google informed about application-programming-interfaces in their developer conference 2015. Don’t know if any apps made use of thes api’s. But if you own a smartphone with android version 6 you could try the stylus there too.

I’m now not so shure what I shall do. I’am a heavy writer with all my previous galaxy note devices. Shall I order a new stylus risking to scratch the screen of my tbook 10, oder will I wait until september and look, if the samsung ej-uw700 stylus will work with the tbook?

Will you keep your stylus? I checked your profile, because of the french aliexpress link, I was thinking you come from the french part of canada. The profile says france. Do you live in north of france? The border of switzerland? I live in basel, 15 minutes from france.

…forgot to mention: these functions, tapping or long pressing the tip of the stylus on the screen, I know them from my very first windows-tablet. It already had this function 😉

I don’t have any Android 6 device, I have an iPhone 6 and the stylus don’t work on it either 😀

Btw it’s working on my 3DS, as a simple stick will work

I don’t want to pay to return it, so maybe I’ll do a video with the stylus not working on Android, 28€ was expansive for that kind of stylus

Well, I was confusing the geographic situation. I’m from north of switzerland, so if you were located near “alsace département haut-rhin ou bas-rhin” and would have sold the stylus, I would have picked up my car and gotten it from you. But shipping from france to switzerland will be more expensive then getting a new one from china – strange world we live in 😉

I’m currently installing all the apps I liked in android in the windows partition. I really like the tbook 10. If only the battery would last longer. I ordered the keyboard as well.

Off Topic now:

The seller does not seem to be very cooperative. It seems to be a rather small company or a single person. After agreeing to refund, when I send the stylus back, he now starts over again argueing, that the stylus could be turned on when I got it.

So I was thinking about buying your stylus. So I’m shure to get one which works. I therefore was checking for postal-adress services on the border of france and found the following: http://www.grenzpaket.ch/fr/adresses-de-livraison-france/adresses-de-livraison-france-saint-louis-centre.html . But I don’t know the company and it looks not very trustworthy. But I have an adress on the border of germany already.

Anyway, you could check the shipping cost to Switzerland, Germany and Saint-Louis. We might pay for the shipping half and half and I would pay the full price for the stylus. What do you think?

…but maybe you should keep the stylus. I never heard of a stylus solution which works both on andrdoid and windows. Also the samsung pen, which I’m awaiting might very well be with proprietary drivers and protection to only be used with the samsung tab pro s.

WOW: I just read throug your previous post from May 23: Did you say the <span style=”color: #008000;”>stylus has palm rejection</span>?? In the yt-video the stylus just stoped writing, everytime the tester put his hand on the screen?! If the stylus has palm rejection, I must have a working one (have to through away the faulty one I got from  aliexpress seller E-Live-Technology-Limited (shunli guo).
