I know from Chris’s review of the Tbook 10 that the WiFi chip is a Broadcom. Does anyone know what the model is? I’m thinking about buying one and trying to install Linux on it, but I know most of the Atom based tablets have Linux compatibility issues. I know the Cube Iwork 10 has the Realtek 8723bs chip which requires custom drivers to be compiled. I’m wondering if it will be the same for the Tbook 10.
July 10, 2016 at 9:18 am #43060Hi,
its an Ampak AP6212 combo module, which indeed feature a Broadcom BCM43438 wireless chip.
July 10, 2016 at 9:39 am #43064Thanks. I’m not having much luck finding support for the chip under Linux unless you are installing on a rasberry pi which is ARM based.
July 11, 2016 at 2:56 pm #43142I read somewhere that the BCM43438 identifies itself as the BCM43430 so maybe that firmware/driver will work for it for Kernel 4.1+
[edit] Possible it uses the same Wifi as the Chuwi Hi8? This page says the Hi8 uses the BCM43430.July 12, 2016 at 5:51 am #43214That’s a good hint. I also found this for the Chuwi vi10 Ultimate with has the same x5-z8300 processor so I imagine the results will be the same.

It’s not very encouraging. I might be better off with the Hibook Pro or Cube iwork 10 that use the Realtek RTL8723BS WiFi. At least there seems to be more development work going on there.
