TBook 11 Issues – Experience

Hey everyone,

I will write my experience with the Tbook 11 so that anyone can have an idea what is at stake when getting this tablet.

I got this tablet off Gearbest at $160 with shipping. I started using it lightly but I was amazed with what I got for the price. The tablet had everything, good performance, aluminum casing, 4GB RAM, Android/Windows, 1080p screen… I mean it was potentially the tablet to end all tablets and also at a ridiculous price.

Alas, my joy lasted only for about a month. For starters, the tablet comes without a charger from the factory which is weird because it writes on the case that it needs 2.5A to charge which not everybody may already have. In any case I was charging it with a Dell charger at 2A.

What i cannot only assume what the problem was, I tried to charge it once with a noname chinese charger. Without putting any stress on the tablet, at some point I got a message that the tablet reach critical temperature and needed to shutdown immediately. The tablet turned off itself right away and surprised that I was, I touched the tablet on the back only to realize that it was quite warm.. Then when it cooled off a bit I tried to turn it back on. Alas, the tablet would not see the SSD as if it wasn’t there and it would boot straight to bios.

After a lot of fiddling, even opening the tablet, I realized that if you drain the tablet of all battery, charge it, and try to open it again the ssd works fine. Otherwise it is not being recognized. The other thing is that now the tablet drains all its battery in a few hours even when it is off.

My theory is that if you don’t give enough power to the tablet, the battery overheats causing whatever damage.

It’s a pity because this tablet had such a good potential. Now of course I am staying away from Teclast also since they ignored all of my emails. Anyway, I guess if you are really careful and lucky you can have a good experience with it. Otherwise go for something pricier but more reliable. The takeaway is that the Android-Windows combination is a winner and I am always looking forward to it on a tablet.
