Unfortunately I am having the same problem:

    – Do not charge with original cable
    – I’ve tried other cables but not charged
    – Would not light up the icon recharge
    – Both Tablet on or off
    – A burning smell near the charging slot

Sent mine back to Gearbest and will see if they can either refund or replace the tablet.   On mine, there is no burning smell or it’s evaporate through the air already by the time I noticed it.

It seemed that the USB port itself is completely stopped working, not accept charge nor OTG, I used it until the very last minute attempting to wipe my data out before shipping it back.  🙁

USB charging… i hate the idea of this being my own option… It’s one of the reasons why I put off purchasing a Cherry Trail device…

    I’ve never met a USB cable I can’t destroy.
and I’m bad enough with connectors.
My phones like to go ‘bungee jumping’, Roll on them while I’m sleeping and they’re charging…
I like to eat peanut butter(paste) while using them… sand and grit in my bag…

    It’s a highway to a screwed connector…
It’s why i went for something that is capable of charging with a DC pin… Like the Cube i7 book (also USB type-C, but this is a landmine of confusion and potential device breaking)

Not that it helps your situation.

Micro USB doesn’t tend to have the same crazyness as USB type-c…
So I can only assume faulty charging circuitry.
Burnt smells aren’t a good sign.

    Hi People,

I had the same issue as described before. My TBook 11 was generally bricked and finally I gave it to my 9yo son to let him play with some USB cables I have in my desk. Accidentally he SOLVED the issue by connecting USB to ETH adapter through OTG (microUSB to USB A Female) cable and plugging it into router’s ETH port. With having such daisy chain connected Tbook11 powered on and displayed low battery warning. I disconnected my son’s magic cable set and putted tablet on charger then. Charging was accepted and device is still running till now.

Situation repeats every time battery runs flat-out and TBook goes down – I have to plug it to router again just to wake up the BIOS.

Therefore I just set power saving to hibernate at 20% which basically solves the issue permanently.

My conclusion is following: Teclast used poor battery which’s voltage goes so low that BIOS power circuit can’t start due to overcurent protection (low voltage = high current). All you need to do is keep your battery high enough to avoid such situation. This works in my case at least 😉

Good luck and let me know is somebody else managed to unbrick TBook11 in this way.

    Regards

    Marek
