Hello,

I wanted to convert my A5C6 to dual boot, but all I could find were Spanish or Chinese guides, translated by Google Translate.

So I made my own, based on the Spanish one. I changed the text a bit and included some pictures that would make things a bit clearer for newcomers. Where I failed in the installation was the ntfs stick. I first put all the files in the images folder in the root of the drive, instead of putting the folder in the root of the drive. So I hope I made that a little clearer in my guide.

Warning: This will delete all the data on the win10 on the tablet, so be sure to save everything you want to keep.

Convert Teclast X98 Plus A5C6 a dual boot

• All the files you need are available here: MegaDrive

(it’s 15gb, best to download with firefox/edge)

• You will need a powered hub with keyboard, mouse and 2 USB-drives (8GB and 16GB)
• After extracting, some folder have Chinese letters, remove those letters to prevent problems.

Unzip the RAR, head to the Android 5.1 folder on your computer and install the .exe in the following order:

1. iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.2.0.exe
2. IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.5.0.exe
3. PhoneFlashTool_5.3.2.0_win32.exe

The process:
1. In the downloaded files is a folder called X98 Bios Plus, Open it and move the update_win folder to the C:\ of the tablet, it is important that is to C: \ as anything else will not work.

2. Once we have update_win in the folder C: \ we open and run update_win.bat as administrator. The dual bios flashing will start.

3. Once the dual Bios is flashed connect the hub to the tablet with the keyboard and mouse and turn on the tablet. When Teclast letters appear repeatedly press the Del to enter the bios.

4. On the main screen where OS puts bios IMAGE ID, select Android and under where it says DNX enable select Fast Boot. Now we go above where it says Save & Exit give to Save Changes and reset. We will restart the tablet and we’ll be out teclast logo with a yellow letters that will DNX FastBoot mode.

5. Now connect the tablet to the computer and open the phone flash tool we have installed at the beginning of everything. In the blue browse button we go to the path where you unzipped the files from the beginning and within that we go to \X98 Plus\X98 Plus Android\Android\flash.json i.e. choose the file flash.json.

 

6. After selecting this file (1), where it says Configuration: in dropdown menu select blank (2) and then select start to flash at the bottom (3).

7. When the process is complete the tablet will start in Android. Patience because it takes a while the first time.

8. Now it is time to install windows. On the PC we take an 8GB USB-drive and format it in FAT32 and call the volume label WINPE.

9. On that USB-drive we put in the files in the folder: X98 Plus win10\X98 Plus – WINPE\. All those files within that folder must be in the root of the USB-drive.

 

10. Now we take another USB-drive of at least 16GB and repeat the process but we format this one to NTFS and also call the volume label WINPE.

11. On this USB-drive we put the folder X98 Plus win10\images\ and the 4 image files that are in the X98 Plus win10\ folder.

 

12. Connect the USB-drive, that’s formatted in FAT32 to the USB hub.

13. We go back into the bios (press del repeatedly at startup) and in the main screen select windows OS image ID and in the tab to Save & Exit, where it says Boot Override select the USB-drive.

14. The tablet will reboot and if we will get a blue screen error with a sad face, that is normal. Wait for it to restart and when the Teclast letters appear repeatedly press F7. We will get the boot menu. Reselect the USB-drive. If Teclast letters reappear again press F7 and reselect the USB-drive and now wait for it to boot.

15. When starting there will be a command prompt (cmd) that will say something like starting timer. Plug the other NTFS formatted USB-drive without unplugging the other one. I.e. leave both in the hub.

16. Wait until the process is complete.

17. When windows is fully booted up, it will start with a box with Chinese letters, press the left button and wait until the tablet is restarted.

18. Done! Configure everything and now you have the Teclast in dual boot.

Thanks for the guide but I am too scared for doing this so eventualy I decided to stay with windows 10 only and am happy with it

Is this usable for Remix OS instead of teclast android?

My pleasure, got a lot from this forum and wanted to give something back.

 

TAEL, I’m not too sure, this installs the teclast android. My next step will be to put on a custom rom. I don’t really know what remixOS is, but looking at their webpage for a couple of minutes I think it should be flashable after the dual boot proces, maybe? If there is a rom for the 98x plus.. Again, not too sure.

I’ve stuck at point 6. I’ve clicked start to flash and nothing happens. I figuered out, my computer (windows 10 os) can’t see tablet. Tried diffrent usb cables and ports, even took wife’s laptop with windows 7 and same story. Device manager (while tablet is in dnx mode) shows only “Intel Android OS device” with questionmarks on it – like there wheren’t apropriate drivers or something. I think tablet is recognized but it seems my Win10 os missing some files or drivers. Any sugestions?

Besides, whole process looks safe. Tablet bios changed to dual, and at the start I can choose to start android or windows. Android isn’t flashed, so booted to windows and it works like before. Everything looks fine. Just can’t flash android.

Did you install all 3 of the .exe’s in that order?
I also was asked to install drivers, which I clicked yes to. I think on the 3rd exe, it asked me to overwrite some stuff, which I also agreed too.

Not much else to tell you, I’m on win7 64bit.

Passed trough. Just carefully reinstalled those 3 initial files – iSocUSB Driver / IntelAndroidDrv / PhoneFlashTool. Phone Flash Tool recognized my tablet and flash was succesful. After boot it took about 10 minutes to start android. Default language is chinese, so it took while for me to figure out how to change language. I didn’t install Windows.

Android works fine, but camera seems to be broken. Google Play Store is availaibe. So I’m happy my A5C6 (single Windows 10 os before) is running Android.

Thank you for your guide. Now I’m considering flashing other custom rom. Since my tablet is dualboot I think it is possible.

After I flashed it to dual boot, installed android and windows, I flashed mirek’s rom.

You get a couple of options with mireks flash, one of them was delete windows and install android on the full 64gig (this will end in 1gb for the system partition and the rest for data), i did that.

I think that windows 10 is ok for pc’s but it’s shit for tablets, only android is so much better.

My camera doesn’t work as well, but I haven’t had time to test around and have just installed the mirek rom, nothing else. Playstore works after deleting the app cache from google play services.

So you flashed the non teclast android rom? And it worked?

Which version is that rom? A5C8 A6C7 A6C9?

Just substitute the rom in the process?

Also could you put up the film in google drives?

Stupid MEGA limiting downloads every 5GBs in 6 hours…

Would be awesome if you can just upload the film separately and especially the update_win alone

I have my own windows and android, I hate chinese software to be honest, so all I need is the dual boot bios.

It is tough to wait through the mega download limitation to down 15 gb just for the update_win 🙁

oh and btw why cant I get into the DNX mode in the original bios?

I can get to where the screen will says DNX fast boot mode (yellow text), but the device will boot pass that, it will just keep booting and go in the windows..
