December 25, 2015 at 9:35 pm #19944Not only could the top tableteer in Shenzen eat Lenovo’s lunch, Teclast could sell SP4 clones for 1/3 the cost of SP4s and still make tons of money. Sell the high end X3 Pro models for half the cost of a Surface Book (but keep the X3 Pro keyboard separate, bump the res on the panel to 3K). I would be fine with 11.6″ panels, like the X2 Pro.
Teclast is Teclast and sure I get your entusiasm and no doubt that with the X1 and X2 ‘ Teclast seems to do many things right, but in the end it aint just a free shell of CPU & possible-upgrades.
many factors that are in play here and not least margins and markets and the treebranch some of the bigger players sits firmly on & get there margins & values in.
Would be great if an little minor brand could just pick and choose amongst the more potent hardware, but often they cant of obvius reasons..
1/3 of the cost sounds great for an consumer-point-of-view, but sadly the consumer-point, and not least from an saving-perspective ‘ aint on the agenda amongst the bosses in the boardrooms & marketmakers and partically among the bigger brands where they got some mean-ass-kung-fu to keep or maximise profit….
December 26, 2015 at 8:14 pm #20012The points you raise are true, but most of a product launch is R&D and industrial design… all of which is done. Teclast could simply replace the Broadwell Core M-series CPU with Skylake U-series CPUs, and leapfrog all the Shenzen competitors… create a new playing field in which Telcast is first to market.
