    Hi,

I am considering buying (any) 2-in-1 laptop to use with Ubuntu.

Would you recommend buying a Teclast X6 Pro? As I’d especially use it for online teaching (MsTeams + Openboard), it is important that the touchscreen works correctly, and the capacitive pen does not display any significant delay.

Could you please comment on that, and perhaps post a video of writing on the touchscreen?

    Thanks!

    G

    Hi Giuseppe!

I no longer have the Teclast X6 Pro, but the touchscreen worked quite well for me. I used openSuse tumbleweed and Fedora 34 on this tablet. It has been a nice experience, the screen was amazing, I will miss that. But I needed more power, more memory, so I sold it and decided on a linux laptop instead.

I have looked for the original Teclast stylus for X6 Pro everywhere, but it is not available anymore, not even at the manufacturer, so I cannot comment on that at all.

There is a newer model: Teclast X6 Plus is the official name, you might be able to get that with an original stylus, which uses newer technology and has a finer level of pressure sensitivity. I bought this stylus from China, but it wasn’t compatible with the X6 Pro. I still have it, in its original box, if you need it, let me know.

There are many other Chinese tablet makers on the market, I would recommend to have a good look around and compare the hardware specs, just to have an idea about what is on the market. If it is important for you, perhaps look for information like the year and the power of the CPU, the type of the screen, the technology used with the original stylus, and other details that matter to you, perhaps even reviews, to get an idea of what is newer hardware and what is older. This way you may be able to make a better decision for your needs.

Even like this, you may need to tinker with the hardware drivers on linux. For example, I could not get any camera working on the X6 Pro, but that wasn’t a problem for me at all.

I hope I did not mix you up even more with my reply 🙂 Good luck in your search!

For anyone wondering about the original issue of this post, I managed to disassemble the X6 Pro in the end. I had to use more determined moves when going round to take off the back cover. Initially I was a bit afraid that I will break something.

So this problem can be marked as solved.
