    Nice tip. Unfortunately due to the extreme popularity of this site and its author Chris, shops like GeekBuying and GearBest have jacked up the prices of their low-priced laptops by an average of 100 USD as of today. So sad, while a positive review by Chris will generate these 2 sites considerable amount of traffic and eventual purchases, they have taken advantage on some of their low-cost laptop and low-cost tablet’s sudden popularity every time they get  mentioned in this website, by increasing their prices. The more people buy cheap or affordable laptops, the more expensive it often gets in just a few days. Maybe, just maybe, because of the clout of Chris and the influence of his honest and unbiased reviews, they (online vendors that benefits from the popularity of this website) should offer more vouchers and coupons to readers and members of TechTablets looking to buy inexpensive Laptops and Tablets.

    A perfect example is the Tecalst F7 it seems, they must have watched my review and the price was originally $219, then $249 and now over $300. But I’m not sure it’s my review that caused it, but it seems like it. I think it’s more their systems see’s a huge amount of sales and demand in their website stats, so the price ramps up automatically once the stock is running low to or the sales from hit conversion rate. Still maybe I should have given it a bad review, say it’s rubbish and they will lower the price? Maybe do a test?

    At least it’s not always the case, the Mi Notebook Pro was for weeks over $1000, just yesterday I was informed by a reader of a coupon that lowers it to $799, it’s still working too. Odd thing was I did find the coupon on any of those coupon websites like I normally do. So there is some hope at least.

    One of the checky things Geekbuying has started to do is force express postage and overcharge for it. Banggood and gearbest offer free postage. But Geekbuying do not yet when you first look at the listing they are cheaper, so very tricky indeed of them.

    Another trend I have noticed is all Xiaomi products exactly after Chinese new year had a price increase across every Chinese retail site. Is this because Xiaomi put their prices up with the new year? I hope not.

    Its simple economics: price elasticity of demand.  Whether it’s reviews from TT, BCT, TabMonkey, etc., whatever causes a spike in demand generates incremental increases in price until demand starts to decline.  The price of the F7 will drop when demand decreases, and will continue to drop until it’s at the minimum profit margin for a given seller, then it’s clearance and flash sales until inventory is gone.  TT has the best English language coverage of Shenzen tablets, so TT probably has more influence in stimulating demand than other English language sites… but there are RU, CN, JP, KR and Arabic sites covering Shenzen tablets that also drive sales.  Look at the mix of comments on the seller’s sites.  In any event, well done! to Chris G for his vision to start TT and to keep improving it.

    Yes please, because if I’m not mistaken, after your review of the  EZBook 3 Plus (which you did not recommend)that is basically the same laptop as the  EZBook 3L Pro, GeekBuying has the 3L Pro offered for 219 since November of last year. I should know, I bought one. But I found no positive review from any reputable website like TechtTablets since then. So from November to February this year, which is 4 months, that price has remained at 219 until Teclast came out with the F4 which initially was offered at 249 until they lowered it to match the 219 USD of Jumper EZBook 3L Pro. Then came out the positive review of Chris and that is when the demand started for both…

    Algorithmic pricing means that the prices are adjusted in realtime in response to customer activity and the pricing of other vendors. The goal of algorithmic pricing is to increase profits. Thus,if a few people grab a specific product at a certain price, the price can be raised. Then, prices at other vendors may also increase automatically.

    If you know that prices will vary, it might be possible to provide information about what price zones are reasonably competitive for particular products. For example, you might be able to say that Product X is a great product, and 200 is a reasonable price, but if the price goes above 250 it’s suggested to hold off because Product Y becomes more attractive in comparison.

    Algorithmic pricing with text mining of sites such as TechTablets could be possible, but I highly doubt it. The algorithm would find it difficult to determine if the sentiment of the review was positive or negative, but purchases are extremely easy to count. I think you are just seeing the price move subsequent to a cluster of purchases near one another (which may have been triggered by a good review).

    So Tom, the bottomline is either ‘be the first to catch’ what means regarding gadgets to take a risk, or have patience. I guess, the latter will always be awarded most, imo, or am I wrong.

    Justinkey, like you mentioned, the other option is to be patient. The price algorithms will decrease the price on the site if they calculate that they can increase profits (more sales at lower margin), and they might offer you a flash deal if you are patient. If you put the item on a wishlist, that activity might trigger an email of a special deal to get you to take action. I’ve heard that some airline websites can do the opposite, like if you appear too interested, they slowly increase prices for anyone at your IP address.  Amazon has well known price trackers but I’m not too sure if sites like https://www.banggearwatch.com are good for this.
