Tough enough for college?

Hi

Just wondered if anyone who has the i7 book would think it would live up to being used at College 2/3 days a week? Not heavy use, I want to use it to scan handouts into onenote and append pdf textbooks using the stylus. That apart, it would just be for browsing etc during downtime/lunch.

I’d probably do the thermal mod on it and maybe up the SSD.

I was eyeing up the Surface Pro or the Acer 12 but the prices are ridiculous and not student friendly at all. I know the Chinese tablets won’t come with support which isn’t an issue for me – i’m just trying to get an idea if the tablet is generally robust enough to survive.

The Surface lineup is way more robust. No denying that, but they are pricey like you say. It should be up to that job.

I use mine as a note taking tablet with a stylus, and it’s working okay so far. I had to do the copper heat sink mod to keep the temperatures low though. Syncing dropbox would get it up to 99 degrees, before I turned dropbox off.

99 degrees! It seems the copper mod is a must rather than an optional improvement…

Hmm…. I just pasted a 5cm x 5cm thermal pad ontop of the original aluminium sink and it drops general temperature by 10 degree on the processor. Good enough I guess.

How thick was the thermal pad that you used? You put it on the back side of the aluminium right where it touches the case?

I often hear from students how difficult student life is and I cannot understand them. I did not encounter any difficulties during my studies that I could not solve. I could always find where I can order custom term paper This helped me avoid bad ratings. Moreover, the teachers even set me as an example in front of other students.
