Good question. I tried RemixOs and bricked the tablet! Lol
Just for fun, I was able to run Ubuntu Desktop from a pen drive and it worked well. The only issue is with the Wi-Fi; is not working!
I’m not a Linux expert,so I couldn’t fix this! LOL
July 26, 2016 at 9:12 am #44507Hi there!!
I’ve got one and it’s running Ubuntu Mate almost perfectly (normal user).
Working:
Wifi(native) driver needed.
Bluetooth(native) driver needed.
Brightness control.
Touchscreen.
Video player.
Usb/microsd card slot.
Autoscreenoff(real name ??)
Screensaver.
Not working:
Battery level status
Sound(native). People reported that is working with usb sound card.
Regards.

October 30, 2016 at 10:48 am #56106How did you do it? I tried two days, but could not get Linux or Ubuntu on aĀ usb drive bootable. Please help me.
Thanks
October 30, 2016 at 2:22 pm #56116Hello.
First you should create an ubuntu live usb. When it’s done connect it to the tablet and with an usb keyboard enter in Bios. Modify some parameters.
To read the usb:
On boot: quiet Boot disabled.
Fast Boot enabled, inside on Usb Support, Full Initial.
When ubuntu is charged install it using another penDrive or a microSd card like a hard disk.(ATTENTION!!! This will erase partially your Android partition because of the Grub will be installed there, think so…) When done go to Bios again and on Save & Exit menu in the part Boot Override put Ubuntu the first option and thats it!
I can use windows, and Ubuntu with a usb not from the microSd card jack. For that you will have to modify the Grub to add that location (sdx).
Hope this helps.
Good luck!!October 31, 2016 at 7:40 am #56148He Charles, you are a wizard, you know that? Many thanks mate. Though, Ubuntu Mate didn’t work out, gave too many errors and never started. Then I tried Linux Mint and that worked reasonably well, not perfect though. Wifi didn’t work. Where did you get the native driver for wifi?
Many thanks again, you are a great help!
November 1, 2016 at 6:46 am #56183Hi Charles, I succeeded in getting various Linux/Ubuntu distros on the Chuwi, thanks to you, but do not get wifi working. I can live without sound or battery indicator, but no wifi is a no go. Now I read about getting the driver loaded through git, but how do I do that? I tried the command “sudo apt-get install” and then the driver, which I downloaded from github, but I get a reply that the file was not found. Would you like to tell me how you did it?
And is it possible to install Linux without deleting W10?
Btw, I tried to follow the dudesĀ on the Chuwi 10-forum, but that was no help either. But I just have to get it working.
Many thanks friend!
November 1, 2016 at 11:14 am #56195It works! Looking great. Wifi and Bluetooth function, no battery meter and no sound as known. I downloaded this iso:Ā Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (https://goo.gl/QXyWQ2)
November 2, 2016 at 10:40 pm #56316The best is to use right now is Ubuntu Mate 16.10 and then update your kernel to 4.8.2 or 4.8.5
