Hi,
I am trying to install Win8.1 from 2 files in the Hi8 downloads section.
I put the USB1 contents to one USB formatted fat32 , and USB2 contents to other USB formatted NTFS
Then I boot from USB1
but it fails with following output. And the USB2 partition table has been changed with GPT partition.
output:
”
DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk.
DiskPart successfully converted the selected disk to GPT format.
DiskPart succeeded in creating the specified partition.
Virtual Disk Service error:
The operation is not supported on removable media.”
The current directory is invalid.
“Install.wim NOT found.”
An error has been detected.
The current directory is invalid.
”
September 6, 2015 at 12:30 pm #11027The operation is not supported on removable media. <— USB2 is intented for external hard drive/ portable hard drive only. (warning all data on your portable drive will be erased) so please make backup first.
you will need a USB hub with AC power to provide enough juice for the external hdd.
take caution, when i installed fresh windows 8, the diskpart accidentally remove my android partitions, i don’t know how it happened.
now my android is gone, but i can live with it, more space for windows, 16GB free !
September 6, 2015 at 1:04 pm #11031Hi,
Thanks for that feedback. I can find a free external drive but I don’t want to lose Android partition. How can I keep it and restore Win8.1 ?
In fact, I have an Acronis backup of my Windows partition. But I can’t boot Android rescue media. How can I ?
September 6, 2015 at 8:27 pm #11043ok. problem solved.
- I’ve installed Acronis 2014 and Media add-on.
- Then I installed Windows ADK
- Created WinPE files from ADK.
- Then I used the Acronis 2014 Win PE ISO Builder to create a 32bit Acronis rescue media (ISO file)
- created the USB rescue disk with Rufus app.
- With this rescue disk I am able to recover my disk to the position before I installed Win10. (even the recovery partition)
September 8, 2015 at 7:51 pm #11152can you please tell me more, i mean the details?
i’m eager to flash windows 8.1 again to this tablet. i’m done with windows 10, too much cpu resources wasted and buggy wifi.
thanks.
