I don’t know how Mediatek is now but, some years ago I had an Android tablet with Mediatek chip and my wish was to throw it against the wall.

Yeah, I hear ya. I’m not looking for performance though. These tablets will be running a single app, with very low CPU requirements.

If they meet your requirements you can try to find some reviews to see if they don’t break easily.

Those ones are really bad, ones on Ebay and Amazon. I refuse to review them there is a reason they have no name, nobody would want their name on that!

It seems like an intriguing story though! What kind of company is producing no-name tablets? Do they function _at all_? How do they benchmark? I haven’t seen anything on youtube, techtablets forums, or anywhere, and yet they’re being sold on some major platforms like you identified.

Would be fun to see you do a “this is total rubbish” review on one…

I think it”ll be a waste of time and money to do a review everybody knows the results.

I had what may be regarded as a ‘lesser known’ brand 2-in -1 tablet until a couple of months ago. It was a Quantum View 10.1 with keyboard and case –the firm now trades with the name Azulle, with a USA base in Miami (I am in the UK). I do not have much experience of different PCs but I thought it was good, although the SSD failed around the same time as I upgraded it to Windows 10 Anniversary. It had been running Windows 10 (upgraded from 8.1) well for nearly a year. I liked it so much I wanted to replace it with something very similar but at least with a larger RAM and SSD (so it would no longer be a ‘small device’. Hence I bought the Cube iWork Ultimate 10.1 — it is quite like a lower specified Cube. I have no idea what would be involved in replacing the OS with Android.

My local professional technician was happy to work on it when necessary, until the SSD went which he advised would not be worth repairing. He did not find anything ‘inferior’ about it.

Azulle have a website and (limited) forum (and Facebook site) and responded a few times to my email requests for advice. I do not know if the View is still supplied, it was only a couple of months ago though they seem to be concentrating on mini computers.

There are some tutorials about installing Android, for my use I prefer emulators.

If you Google for it you will find some tutorials like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipIQZmP_1XU
