Hello,
I am also wondering whether anyone else has tried this.
Is TechTablets able to confirm whether upgrading to Windows 10 on an X98 Air 2 wipes my android partition? If so, is there anyway of preserving my android partition?
I’ve found that I mostly use Android over Windows for functionality but now that Windows 10 has come out I’m hoping it’ll change that eventually with a stream of new apps on its way.
Thanks in advance
Ben
July 29, 2015 at 3:15 pm #7772I’ve just done it now. I went windows 8.1 to Windows 10 insider previews a little while back and now just done a clean install on windows 10 public released version and deliberately wiped the android partitions to give it all to windows. First issues – no audio drivers, and micro sd card not recognised – also windows activation not carried thru. I’ll update here when I get somewhere -the drivers may be ok from the ones saved on this site. Windows update has not picked them up. It looks good and feels quicker than 8.1.. .so far. – also touch screen not working – bluetooth mouse and supplied keyboard work well.
July 29, 2015 at 3:18 pm #7774How do you get the “upgrade to windows 10” notification as I don’t have that?
On my “normal” windows 8.1 laptop I have this notification like for a month now and I very interested to test win 10 on this table. But why I don’t get the notification ?July 29, 2015 at 3:38 pm #7779I didnt have the upgrade icon, I joined the windows insider program and did it from their links but it did just update w8.1 leaving my old files and programs. As I understand it if you have the icon the update will be rolled out in stages – not 100% sure though.
July 29, 2015 at 3:48 pm #7781I really want to know if upgrading to windows 10 on air 3g will remove the Android partition .
July 29, 2015 at 7:11 pm #7790i just upgraded my Teclast X98 Air II HG9M to Windows 10, runs smooth, only you need to reinstall the Kionix accelero meter and do a regfix for orientation.
You don’t have to wait for the upgrade notification, you simply go to here from your tablet: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10July 29, 2015 at 7:36 pm #7791And did it wipe your android partition?
Thanks
Ben
July 29, 2015 at 11:24 pm #7833Just used the tool levd mentioned and upgraded to Windows 10. I can still switch over to android. Touch screen still works and it’s pretty nice. My memory is a bit low (around 3gbs left) and I can still use an microsd for storage, but I might just get rid of android altogether.
July 30, 2015 at 12:33 am #7838Thanks Eric! Will use this tool you mentioned.
July 30, 2015 at 1:29 pm #7861Further to my earlier post yesterday I had a few problems but in the end I’m just about there and now and its not too tricky. The idea was to remove Android and use the tablet only with the new Windows 10 version.
1. Create w10 bootable usb stick using the provided MS MediaCreationtool as previously mentioned (on another PC)
2. Power on the Chuwi and hit escape key when the Chuwi logo comes up to go into boot options.
3. With keyboard keys move to boot manager section and select the usb as the bootable device and restart
4. Follow the windows install steps but go into the advanced move and delete all partitions leaving just one unallocated space of around 29gb
5. Install windows approx 15 mins.
6. This left me with touch screen, audio and sd card not working amongst other things and windows not activated.
7. Download and run double driver and restore all the drivers from the download on this forum. I tried individually restoring drivers and got in a boot loop but doing the whole lot should work.
8. This should fix all device issues but the touch screen will not be calibrated correctly and your touch points will be all over the place. To fix this take the 2 files in the download section Sileadtouch.fw and .sys and add them to c/windows/system32 and after reboot all should be good.
9. Last issue is activation – mine is not activated. I read somewhere the licence key is embedded in the hardware on these tablets and that it might take some time to activate. We will see – in the meantime I used this product key finder http://nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html which did bring me up a key but it did not work on activation. Any ideas on that ?
10. All in all I think its working well, seems pretty quick and there are lots of new things to play with.
July 30, 2015 at 2:53 pm #8011Nice post, I’m not sure about the activation but it’s an issue will see if it activated by itself.
I used a Windows Insider build on my and then upgraded to the RTM and it activated this way. Seems only upgrades will activate.

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30July 30, 2015 at 5:21 pm #8024If you have a tablet with a legal version of Win 8.1 which is activated you can use the tool to upgrade to Win 10, Win 10 will be automatically activated. It can take some time before its activated, the key is stored in your Microsoft account. After the upgrade you can do a clean install if you like.
July 31, 2015 at 8:51 am #80587. Download and run double driver and restore all the drivers from the download on this forum. I tried individually restoring drivers and got in a boot loop but doing the whole lot should work.
Can you please give some more details on this step? I’ve downloaded the double driver and extracted them to desktop.
Then in device manager there where a lot of “unknown devices” so I selected one of them and “update drive software…” and selected the extracted folder with the drivers, but it didn’t work – the updating window never finished ( I left it for over an hour and still was updating ).So I rebooted and boot loop – tried already 4 times to reinstall win and it’s getting really frustrating.
Could you please suggest a solution?
Thanks

Unfortunately the upgrade option without a clean install from USB isn’t working for me – at some point it stops with a “failed to install” message – could someone confirm that his worked for them ON THIS TABLET
ps: trying this with Win 10 Pro

Sorry maybe I didn’t make that clear earlier. Do not individually try and update drivers for devices with error messages. Run the double driver program exe file hit the restore button then locate the folder with all the driver backups. Make sure ALL are select – it does this by default I think and restore the whole lot. That should fix it up.
July 31, 2015 at 9:41 am #8071Run the double driver program exe
So it’s a program and not the name of the archive.Ok, got it now.
Thanks
Any news on the activation ?
