- How about Micro sd card port? Card still stuck. (Solved a few hours and some perspiration later, pfff, from now on I will only use my two micro sd card usb adaptors … not this terrible slot) SD is not available in Android, fine in W10, but I think there was a thread about it. Something to do with rooting. I have mine just a day and do not risk voiding warranty, yet.
- That it came with a double screen protector mentioned in this forum was a good one. Had a tough job getting of the last layer, but then touchscreen worked much better indeed.
- My dual OS works fine, though it takes roughly three minutes to change system. Just enough to walk the dog 😉
- Screen brightness changes slightly and randomly in W10. Stabilizes after a while.
- Battery level at 50% after working 6 hours with it. Pretty cool.
June 27, 2016 at 1:45 am #42048Justinkeyback, thanks a lot for replying.
I hadn’t spotted SD card issues, thanks for the heads up. I’ll look into that.
I’m guessing (hoping actually) that the 3 minute OS switch is dominated by Android boot time? If I go for the Hi12 I’ll have to get a dog 🙂
There was a similar screen brightness issue on my Vi10 thinking about it, that I can live with…
Battery life is the only reason I would consider the Atom-X5 Z8300, it is still very underpowered though.
Hmm, decisions…
Anyway: Thanks again, that helps.
June 27, 2016 at 7:52 am #42058My expirience with OS switching is very smooth, probably under the minute, by memory i would say between 30 andò 40 seconda.
The tablet is very good , maybe a better wireless adapter would have been a better idea.
The screen is fantastic.
June 27, 2016 at 8:49 am #42063Update: Jonathan, I think underpowered Atom cpu is a point. I have tweaked BIOS a bit, as far as I dared (got it in a loop at startup when I enabled the option “fast startup” so I put that to sleep again), but do not see any great improvements. Sometimes I wonder if a Samsung 12.2″ with over 2 ghz speed would have been a better choice (still over 500 euros!). If I could get it to run at 1.8 or so, I would be much happier. I did some fiddling with Illustrator and Photoshop and it seems I was set back in time to the XT IBM machines. So much waiting, not time to walk the dog, but do all kind of garden work … if that has any priority at all.
On the other hand, lets not forget, this is a smart compromise to get a good battery life out of it. I guess the other brands do not get such so many pros for a tablet/pc, considering the dual OS option, the large array of specs and that for 260 euros!
I have autohotkey installed for faster shutdown. I lost the shortcut to switch to Android from W10. How the heck could I lose something like that? Still, it is nothing more than shutting down and restarting Android. So I solved that with hotkey alt-s.
Cheers

In Win 10, navigate to c:\Recovery\OEM\Switchfile.exe Note: the Recovery folder is hidden so you will need to reveal it by placing a tick in the ‘Hidden Items’ box which you will find in the file manager ‘View’ tab. Once you have identified the Switchfile.exe program file, right click and select ‘Send to’ and then select ‘Desktop (create shortcut)’.
My experience of the Chuwi Hi 12 is pretty much the same as matteo. No issues except that the bluetooth/wireless performance is the weakest of any of my wi fi devices in both win 10 and android, bar none. Wi fi speeds are ok in the same room as my router but drop off very quickly once i move out of the door and across to another room. My mobile phone, Chuwi Hi8 and Teclast X98 Plus etc all cope far better. Similarly, streaming video whilst listening via a bluetooth earpiece adversely affects performance to a point where i mostly use wired headphones. I would have happily paid the extra money for an upgraded spec. Not a dealbreaker because the Chuwi Hi 12 package is so good in all other aspects. I even like the keyboard, although admittedly i don’t use it much for power typing.
June 27, 2016 at 5:40 pm #42101Many thanks Fred! I appreciate it very much.
As concerns wifi/bluetooth I have no complaints. Though once I had some trouble connecting but after installing “wifi analyzer” again I noticed interference from the neighbours. After switching to another channel all went well. Now I have full signal. Our router is placed on one floor higher, so the signal has to pass through a concrete floor. Still very good reception. My advice: try “wifi analyzer,” what are the odds?
Thanks again!
June 27, 2016 at 8:45 pm #42112You can fix the screen brightness switching. Just go to the Intel options and then go to the energy setup. Here you can deactivate the display power saving, after that you will have no flicker or brightness issues.

My only issue is with Speaker / 3.5 mm jack. They produce buzz (noise). I must have sounds off, because with sounds on I hear every one touch. It is very annoying. When will be this problem done, it is luxury tablet.
July 6, 2016 at 3:53 am #42735Thank you all for taking the time to post your findings with the Hi12.
I’ll add some positives for the Hi12:
- Chuwi seem to listen to feedback.
- Chuwi have supported TECHTablets.
That said, this tablet is not going to be anywhere near fast enough for my needs 🙁
