    Hi Everyone,

I’m hoping to get some help choosing an 8 inch tablet. I would use it mainly for web browsing, email, watching video (streamed and offline). I like the flexibility of windows tablets.

I own a broken Dell venue 8 pro which has served me well for almost 2 years, but the micro usb charging port broke. I have since discovered that this is a common problem and there are many of these broken devices being sold for spare parts. Charging ports aside it was a great device because it had good screen brightness and good battery life. All of the info I’ve found on the chinese 8″ tablets suggests that they are compromised in one or both of these two key areas.

    My ideal 8″ has:

    • good battery life (at least 7 hours)
    • greater than 300 cd/m^2 screen brightness
    • hdmi output
    • android and windows dual booting,
    • a separate DC-in charging jack.
    • Weighs less than 350g
    • 4-pole 3.5mm audio jack  (I.e. Mic in and stereo speaker out)
    • I prefer windows 8.1 to windows 10, but it’s not a big deal for me to install win 8.1 if need be (I’ve got a spare license)

The cube iWork8 3g seemed like a good candidate but is out of stock everywhere.
The Chuwi Vi8 Super also looks promising because it has a 5000mAh battery, but I can’t get any info on its brightness. Also sold out everywhere I’ve looked.

Obviously, I’m going to have to compromise.

    Your advice would be appreciated!

Hi8 looks ok, but according to reviews battery life is low, and there’s no HDMI. Brightness is good though. I can live without HDMI. How have you found the battery life?

The official supported sd card is 32gb max, did you try any bigger than that? Did it work?
