Why are better cameras on the BACK of tablets???

I’m not sure if I’m missing something, but it seems bizarre to me that the standard form is the strong back camera and weak front camera (with some exceptions).  Surely most of us would not be using a clunky 500g tablet to take our well aimed scenery shots (at 5mp, no less) or shots of our beloved friends, family, cats, dogs, rodents etc.  I do, however, use my tablets for video conferencing on a regular basis, which would argue for a stronger camera in the front.

Anyone here have their own theory, or is this like the popularity of QWERTY keyboards?

I agree, ditch the rear camera and give us a nice one on the front capable of 1080p 30fps.
