Hello everyone! Today I tried to upload my photo to renew my passport through the portal, and it was rejected right away. It said that the face was too small, although I seemed to have taken a normal portrait. I have a phone with a good camera, the lighting was normal. Honestly, I don’t understand what the problem is. Maybe someone has encountered such a situation? I don’t want to waste time redoing it again. Tell me what is the most common reason for refusal, and how can I fix it so that the portal will finally accept the photo?

The portal checks everything automatically and very strictly. If it says that the head is small, it means that it takes up less than 50% of the frame. You need to crop the photo so that the face is within 50–69%. Also make sure that the background is completely white, without shadows. It is important to save the file in JPEG format and weigh up to 240 kb. I once found a convenient resource where all the errors and ways to fix them are described in detail — passport photo size 2025 https://digital-passport-photo.com . There are step-by-step instructions: how to crop, how to compress, and even how to stand in front of the camera. Try again – it should work.

My portal rejected the photo because of a slight shadow on the wall, although I almost did not see it. After I stood a little further from the wall and turned on an additional lamp, everything went perfectly. So little things really do matter. I think your problem will be solved if you change the cropping a little.

When renewing a passport online, photos are often rejected because they must meet strict international standards Get more information for identification and security purposes. Common reasons include poor lighting or shadows on the face, incorrect background color (it must usually be plain and light-colored), the person not facing the camera directly, facial expressions that are not neutral, or accessories like glasses, hats, or head coverings that obscure features.
