Should be running at 1600 Mhz the single channel 4GB. At least it does on all the Z8300’s I’ve seen. Check in the bios if its locked down. Otherwise it could also be miss reported by AIDA64.

February 16, 2016 at 8:12 am #26114This is Echo from OKQI store. I have already sent this issue to Teclast team. Waiting to have reply from them soon.
February 16, 2016 at 6:00 pm #26173Echo, good to know! Thank you! Please update us when they’ll reply.
February 16, 2016 at 6:07 pm #26176Good to know that one of distributor is taking care of this issue. It seems that TECLAST won’t support end user’s. Thanks and thumb up for Echo and OKQI.
February 24, 2016 at 2:52 am #26872Hi everyone, we have got explanation from Teclast team. As told by their technicians, the DDR of X98 PLUS can run at 1600MHz. But during the time they made the system debugging, they found at this frequency the system stability is not good. So they made the BIOS to reduce the frequency to 1066MHz.
The manufacture failed to tell us about this information earlier. We apologize that so many cilents didn’t know before the purchase. We have already made some change on the product page. At least the new buyers will know. Sorry again! Users already got in hand must feel uncomfortable.

pfff.. could at least leave to 1333mhz not 1066 .. They will not do anything with respect to the ram then?

So, now we know why the benchmarks are lower on this tablet than the specs would suggest they should be. I am not surprized to be honest, the hardware development on these things is almost the same as with the Chinese TV boxes. The tablet format makes the conformance to Intel and memory chip reference designs even more difficult to achieve. It is what it is, I still think this device is a great value despite its faults. The dual boot has seemed to add all the X98 pro problems, and I am glad a got a Win 10 only model.
February 25, 2016 at 4:00 am #26994I agree, I don’t seem to hear a single positive thing about the dual-boot version(s), and don’t see much benefit in being able to boot into Android.
The X98 Plus doesn’t fully deliver on its potential but I’m still finding it a pretty nice first Win10 tablet. The next one will be punchier. (I just learned you can run the GameCube/Wii emulator Dolphin fairly well on X98 Pros…!)
February 25, 2016 at 4:42 am #26998Interestingly CPU-Z reports the speed correctly (799 MHz) not sure what to believe now. I also checked AIDA64 which reports the slower speed.

Hwinfo says 1066, CPU-Z says 1600, I tend to trust the former more.
February 25, 2016 at 2:59 pm #27030Yeah, the majority of tools I’ve used say 1066. Is this a dual boot only issue? If so flashing the single boot bios would fix it right? It would be a shame to lose Android but I’m not really using it.
