Wifi suddenly stopped working – ship to China?

Hi folks,

I have the cube i7 book for about a month now (from GearBest), have reinstalled a fresh copy of windows on it when I got it and it recognized the wifi even at the install stage (I installed the Intel ProSet drivers anyways later).

Now, all of sudden when I opened it the other day, the wifi has stopped working – there is no Intel ..ac device listed under Device Manager. I have not tweaked drivers for several weeks, so I’m starting to think this is a hardware issue. I’ve reinstalled Windows from scratch and updated the drivers from an usb stick – but still no luck.

What are my options at this point? Any suggestions? I’ve uninstalled/restarted/re-installed the intel drivers more than I can count..

Is the wifi module replaceable by any chance?

Also, does anyone have any experience shipping tablets to GearBest for repairs, from Europe? What costs can one expect?

Seems very odd the wifi module would just fail like that. And a clean windows install it still doesn’t show up? have you tried a link image like linuLinuxt? Or Remix and see if wifi works or shows?

A clean install of Windows didn’t help unfortunately. I tried the latest version of Ubuntu as well in a live usb env, to no luck.

 

While I made very small changes to the BIOS about 2 weeks ago (mainly to enable Hyper-v on my unit, have not touched it since) I didn’t expect it to cause any issues, as I went over all the settings to make sure they’re fine. I reset the BIOS using the pin close to the power bottom, restarted the machine and .. presto.. the WiFi works again!

I still have no idea what could have caused this – but I’m happy to say that it’s all good. Certainly worth trying the PIN reset method before any Windows reinstall :).
