I believe the Vi10 has Windows 8.1 with Bing preinstalled, the last time I checked you couldn’t get media for this version and the other editions of 8.1 won’t activate on your licence. In short even if you sort the drivers you’ll have an unlicensed version of Windows, which is a pain.
Use the Windows 8.1 images from here (assuming that they are still available) and use them to get back an activated version of Windows.
After that I would recommend upgrading to Windows 10, if only to claim the free upgrade while you can (keep your options open). You can probably do a fresh install of 10 from an activated 8.1 installation to use the whole drive if you use the procedure here. (You can get media for Windows 10 after upgrade since you get a standard version, not a special “with Bing” edition).
January 17, 2016 at 12:16 pm #22711Worst cast scenario I could use KMSpico or similar to deal with activation. This really seems to be a case of about a trillion drivers not installing and the double driver backup not working for me.
January 17, 2016 at 1:36 pm #22730I am far from comfortable with helping someone who openly admits their intent to pirate software.
For the benefit of anyone else having trouble with drivers, the majority of the hardware on the Vi10 is standards compliant or from well known companies and as such will have drivers installed automatically by Windows. The only sticking points on my Pro version were the touch drivers (Chipone), WiFi/Bluetooth(detected as Realtek but works with Broadcom drivers) and the OS switcher if you upgrade to Windows 10 (it causes Windows to immediately shut down).
It’s best to look in Device Manager and sort out drivers for devices one at a time. There are instructions dotted around that detail how to install manually, but if you do this you might end up with issues with standby. It’s best to find individual driver installation packages. Check the events tab on device properties for “further installation required” messages if you get disabled WiFi or black screens etc. when waking the tablet.
The OS switcher can be deactivated as I described here
