i did it on my X80 Plus. Only can install via fresh installation. Direct update will not be able to install due to not enough disk space.

use Rufus to create a GPT usb drive, download 64bit version of windows 10 pro then install.

Be mindful that you will lose your original  WIN keys if you do a fresh installation.

    HI dvdfreak,

I tried this already with Media Creation Tool and install fresh from USB. But same error message : hard disk too small, 20GB needed, only 19.85GB avalaible

it’s a partitioning problem of the hard disk 🙁 will probably need to repartitition to get a 20GB c:/partition instead of only 19.85GB

    Hi dvdfreak

thanks a lot. it worked with Rufus.

If others want to upgrade please be aware that you have to use Rufus with an SD Card, then put the SD-Card into the tablet, then start the setup from the SD-Card. and put in a power cable into the USB slot as the update takes quite a while (more than 3 hours) and you run out of battery otherwise before it’s finished.

Using the USB OTG adapter and an USB stick (created with Rufus) will correctly start the update but will never finish as you run out of battery during the update process and then Win10 switches back to the old version and is not updating correctly

    best regards

    Günter

I did not have to re-install the drivers. the update took it from the previous installation.

But in case you full refresh and wipe the drivers  I’d copy the drivers to the same SD card and install it directly from there, right after the OS was updated

Just repartition Wi<span style=”line-height: 1.5;”>ndows by allocating more space in the disk text file on your winpe: drive. The Android partitioning on the tablets was botched within the ROM. </span>

<span style=”line-height: 1.5;”>Most people will see Flash Disk size as 10gb yet actual space is around 4.84 with 4.64gb going to waste. Swap the gpt.bin file with a true 10gb configuration (files can be found in another thread here) or lower if you want to give Windows more space. </span>

<span style=”line-height: 1.5;”>Either way if we want Windows updates complete reinstalls of both Android and Windows need to be done as more and more space will be required in the future. Its honestly better to just decide on one OS.</span>

Windows anniversary update can be installed with media creation tool without repartitioning.

What needs to be done is:

    • free up 8GB on C:. Can be done by running disk cleanup and disabling pagefile
    • run media creation tool and select upgrade option
    • when the tool downloads the media and runs it will tell that you need to attach another drive with 10GB of space
    • remove and reattach microSD card from the internal reader
    • it will be available as a drive for the media creation tool

The good news is that after the upgrade windows takes even less space than before

The microSD card was FAT32 in my case, but I bet it can be NTFS too. IMO, you will not be able to read NTFS card in Android, so you need to reformat back to FAT after the update anyway.

@Bruno: you should choose upgrade option

As was mentioned by  @dvdfreak , you will lose your windows key. You have to create a fresh installation by using the one teclast provided.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. If i flash back the one that teclast provided then that means I will revert back to the windows version that it originally came with? Is there a way to just roll back to the old windows? I think I saw an option in recovery that says “Go back to an earlier build”. Thanks in advance for your reply

Old windows such as Windows 8.1 , Windows 7 etc? I don’t think you are able to do so.
