I also had this phanomen that i had to wait some minutes before i could start my discharged x98 pro. I think this is under 11% of battery…
November 7, 2015 at 3:43 pm #15190@ARnold: This is normal behavior, to protect the battery, but mine does not charge when powered off.
Also, because the charge is so low in Android, the tablet keep losing battery % even with charger plugged on. Tried 3 different chargers…
The charge rate seems OK in Windows, the BIOS, and the OS selection screen.
Do I have a defective tablet ?

Can you try two things? The charging in this tablet is complicated….
- Use a external battery (capable of providing 2 A), not an AC charger
- Power off, connect the charger and boot into Android.
I’ll explain, I think that when you connect this tablet to a USB “intelligent” device, it switches to OTG mode, and provides power FROM the battery TO the external device. This has happened to me with a charger, that has a LED light and when I unplugged it from the wall socket the LED remained on, with only the tablet attached. Once I disconnected the tablet, the LED on the charger went off, so the tablet was providing power to the charger and not the opposite. If then I reconnect the same tablet to the same charger, it switches to “normal” mode, and the tablet gets power from the charger.
Same thing after connecting a pen-drive using the OTG cable, the tablet no longer charges after that. Only when I connect it to some specific charger or external battery it switches to “normal” mode, and the I can use any charger.
And a few moments ago I had the tablet running Android and connected to a charger and it was not charging. Power off and I see that then it charges, boot again into Android and it’s charging again. By the way, even with a not very powerful charger (0.85A maximum output) and a standard Nokia USB cable, the tablet charges in Android, very slowly, it would take 8 hours to reach 100%, but keeps Android running and does not lose battery % while on.
So it’s not only the charger you use, it is what you have connected to the USB port before.
Note: My tablet has BIOS 1.13 from Oct 28 and IGD Turbo disabled.
Note: You need a really powerful charger and a thick cable to keep the tablet charging while using it. It needs 8 – 10 W if running CPU and GPU intensive tasks.
November 10, 2015 at 6:33 pm #15533I have already tested with three different charges & cables, and also with a Xiaomi powerbank (capable of outputing 2.1A): they all behave the same (see attached pics).
I have also tested many times to disconnect and reconnect.
Rebooting Android makes no change.

I’m out of ideas here.
