    Hello,

Just some information to existing and possibly new Xiaomi Mi Notebook owners.

I just received a Xiaomi Mi Notebook 12.5 – from GearBest via DHL

The delivery from time of order to my door was within 6 day – 3 of which were processing at GearBest.

When I received the ‘box’ it was well packed with appropriate DHL stickers.

On opening the outer box – I noted a much smaller box inside – which contains the Xiaomi Mi Notebook 12.5

The top and bottom of  this box had been sealed with wide transparent tape – covering the Xiaomi factory seals.

The top Xiaomi factory seal was ‘sliced open’ but still covered with the original wide transparent tape – which appeared not be have been resealed.

Once cutting through the outer wide tape – you could open the outer Xiaomi Mi Notebook box – to reveal a well packed inner ‘product’ box.

This inner ‘product’ box is the box which contains the actual Xiaomi Mi Notebook 12.5

The inner box also has two transparent tape seals preventing the box from being opened.

In my case these tape seals were cut opened – from both sides.

On examining the inside of the ‘product’ box – you could see that the plastic sleeve which seals the Xiaomi Mi Notebook was opened and resealed – by virtue that you can see the sticky tape line was disturbed and it also was not sealed back into its original place and crinkled.

The actual Xiaomi Mi Notebook looked fine – it appeared unmarked – except for scratch marks on the only bit of exposed plastic covering the wifi antennas.

The scratch marks were under a factory sealed transparent plastic which covers the antenna plastic – this did not look as though it was tampered – indicating that the scratch marks were introduced at the factory prior to the packaging process.

I also noted that the battery was exhausted – not enough power for an initial boot – dead response on trying to power-up.

At the moment I am not 100% sure if I should except delivery of this Xiaomi Mi Notebook – since the packaging was definitely tampered with 🙁

Has anybody else had similar experience?

Have your Xiaomi Mi Notebook packages – which should be factory sealed – been opened before?

Did your Xiaomi Mi Notebook have sufficient battery charge for an initial boot?

Was your ‘plastic’ covering the WiFi antennas scratched (not by you) when you received you Xiaomi Mi Notebook?

I guess if enough of us share our experience(s) with the Xiaomi Mi Notebook – package delivery – we will be able to gauge weather or not the Xiaomi Mi Notebook we just received is factory fresh – or it had a unsolicited tampering along the way before it came to your possession 😉

I guess everyone will have their own personal experience.

In my case I know that all notebook manufacturers clearly state that you should not accept any products which have broken factory seals.

    What do you think?

Oh .. if you happen to see this post Chris – perhaps you might remember the state of your Xiaomi Mi Notebook 12.5 when received – was it fully factory ‘sealed’ and did it have enough battery charge for an initial boot?

    Cheers

    Hi,

If you’ve seen my unboxing of my unit It had cut seals. But not the inner ones If I remember correctly. 95% of tech I get from China (And I get a lot) is always opened, sellers/retailers all seem to open them up and do a check before sending it out. My unit had only around 25% battery.

Also if your unit has English installed, they had to open it up to install it. It ships only with Chinese Windows. There is no english/international version. At least not yet.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for your insights – yes I did see a few unboxing videos and the interesting thing is that quite a few of them are fully factory sealed – including a plastic sleeve for the inner box.

After posting here – I did revisit your review and did note that your package was opened 🙁

Yes, I guess there is no consistency from China – but you would expect that Xiaomi would have a higher level of quality control :/

Thanks for your good work Chris – keep going 😉

    Cheers
