Hi, no such issue with my unit. Are you running the factory Windows 10 image or did a clean install. This is definitely software related and not hardware.

Hi, I clean installed the OS on day one since I needed English windows. I downloaded the windows 10 media creation tool, booted from a usb drive, wiped all the partitions and installed windows 10 from scratch. Everything seems to be fine, it’s just this one issue. Is there any programme that goes along with your fingerprint sensor, Xiaomi provides one on their website but it only works on windows 7 and 8.

I think it could be related to how long it takes the device to boot up, i.e. it needs to be booted for a certain amount of time for the fingerprint sensor to actually recognise your fingerprint.

This issue seems to have been resolved. I’ve updated to the 5th version and now the fingerprint issue is non existent. Also, the update to the bios also resolved an issue where the screen would lower brightness on dark screens, and increase the brightness on lighter ones. This wasn’t with Windows OS brightness settings, it must have been something to do with the panel itself.

Either way, this doesn’t occur anymore, anyone who has had either of these issues or anything similar should update their xiaomi notebook pro to the 5th bios version. The files can be found on Techtablets and the tutorial to install it can be found on YouTube.

    Many thanks.

I have the same issue. Did a clean install of Win 10 and the fingerprint only work the same day I set it up. The next day its not working and I have to set it up again. My computer came with the XMAKB5R0P0502 bios version which I suppose you mean you upgraded to?

Edit: Seems like I had the wrong angle when trying to unlock. Think its works like it should.

I’ve only had one instance of experiencing this issue again after the bios 502 update that your machine is currently on.

The issue could stem from a piece of software that was removed through the clean install, though I can’t be certain of this, and it’s very difficult to find the answers online.

I’d recommend updating your fingerprint reader driver, fully updating your device, wipe and re-enable your fingerprint, and troubleshoot your system to identify any issues.

If none of this works, try installing the drivers directly from xiaomi’s website.

Also you could try scanning different areas of your scanned finger to ensure readability. This seemed to improve things for me back in the third version of the bios.

If all else fails and it is a big issue for you, try arranging a return or repair with Xiaomi or the seller you bought it from. This kind of issue is under warranty and should justify a full refund or repair under law.

Hope this helps. Just remember this is almost definitely to do with software and nothing to do with the hardware of the laptop itself.

I’m having the same issues with my fingerprint reader. It worked great for the first two months, now it won’t recognize any fingerprints. If I delete the old fingerprints and add new ones, it will work for an hour or two then stop. Is it a driver issue? I’m running the latest drivers (according to Windows update).

Being honest, the only true fix I found was to leave the scanner alone. Set up your fingerprint and just keep using it. For me, the reader performed better over time to the point where over a week, it was pretty much flawless.

Troubleshooting, uninstalling drivers, and rescanning fingerprints seems to just reset the “learning process”. just scan the one print and it will scan better overtime.

    hope this helps

Hi chaps, asking on here because nowhere else seems to have any clue. I just bought a xiaomi notebook also (2017 13.3 version), and clean installed windows ten onto it. I then downloaded the driver for the fingerprint sensor from xiaomi’s website, but the device doesn’t show in device manager. My laptop also says that windows hello isn’t available for my device, any idea why the sensor is not detected ?
