I used the Lenovo drivers that were posted on this forum and so far so good. I think my startup time has improved as well.
May 4, 2018 at 7:23 am #142582Turns out it was that driver causing the error. You will have to revert back to the broken Microsoft driver before upgrading to 1803.
Does anyone know of another driver I could use for my SSD?
February 7, 2018 at 7:27 pm #79115Very good guide. I’ve managed to get my v5 unlocked, the only thing I think is missing is how to backup your current bios. Just for reference, this is how I did it.
- Navigate \Tools\AFU\AFUWIN and launch AFUWINGUI.EXE
- Press save
Pretty simple I know but I didn’t find it clear which tool I needed to use.
I’ve unlocked my bios with the hope it will stop my WD Green 120GB SSD from disappearing in Windows. The only configuration I’ve changed is the SATA controller from”hard disk drive” to “solid state drive. Not sure if anyone else has any other changes I can make to stop this from happening? Does anyone know if I could get better performance by switching back to Microsoft ACHI driver? or is it best to stay with the modded Intel one?
Cheers!
Danny.
January 29, 2018 at 5:35 pm #77894I had the exact same issue with my WD 120GB SSD. I think I’ve resolved my problem by doing the following:
- Use the modded Intel driver as mentioned by Patrick.
- Set your power plan on your HDD to never turn off your disk when on charge or on battery (set this value to 0).
- Set your disk to dynamic in computer management > disk management (I use it as a secondary drive).
January 17, 2018 at 8:52 am #77110Hi. For me this patched drivers worked with LiteONIT 128GB SSD and V5 Jumper. Only problem the R/W speed is not full, about 280/250. But i can boot from SSD both system (W10 and Ubuntu) with rEFInd. Try another driver from lenovo, russians says it is ok with Kingdian for example. http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=812082&st=4800 Link to the drivers: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/hu/hu/downloads/ds034629
Thanks, John.
I think I’ve got it working by converting my disk to a dynamic disk. If the issue returns I will try out the Lenovo driver.
January 16, 2018 at 4:01 pm #77060yes i do, the same 2006 one. Ive tried the MSI registry edit, the prefetch and superfetch, the increasing of the pagefile…. I am getting tons of 153 and 129 errors in windows event log, but I dont really even need to look in the log, i can simply open task manager, do something disk intensive and see how my SSD is pegged at 100% with 0 read and 0 write and windows hanging until it starts working again
I’m experiencing the exact same issue at the moment. Did you ever find a fix? I’ve tried using the AHCI driver that was posted on win raid. https://www.win-raid.com/t3225f23-Intel-Apollo-Lake-N-SoC-AHCI-RST.html#msg45256
But when the driver is loaded I can’t see my SSD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
