Hi Flashing the BIOS with bios.bin from (Tikilou) http://vavar60.online.fr/share/tablet/chuwi_hi10/bios_chuwi_Hi10-DualOS_E4D6_C106_E0511.224.7z with eeprom programmer here is the how to http://techtablets.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Recovering-a-Bricked-Chuwi-Hi12-caused-by-Corrupt-Bios.pdf
Ok, I thought a moment it was possible without opening the tablet + using the eeprom programmer… BTW Zak, were you able to proceed without damaging the tablet guts, or you can’t avoid cutting some parts like the sticky foam layer ?
Could the whole Android image provided by Chuwi and copied onto a USB flashdrive be used as another bootable system with proper UEFI setup ?
June 28, 2016 at 12:51 pm #42162And yes i’m french (Mon anglais est si mauvais que ça ? ^_^ ) and i have many pseudo, bingo-crepuscule on HFR and NextInpact, Billou on Ubuntu-Fr forum.
Non, pas si mauvais ;-P I was quite sure about you having another nickname on HFR, that’s all =)
I have successfully transformed my CHUWI HI10 Q64G42160201032 single boot to DUAL BOOT mode.
Did you achieve to transform a single boot Hi10 (Win10?) into a dualboot one, by flashing the BIOS, using software only ? Could you please provide more details if that’s the case ?
I recently tried myself many times to upgrade the P02A_C106.0X60D x64 BIOS to E406_C106_E.224 x64 with no success… Same 4216 serial as yours. Based on many forum posts, only hardware flash can do that.June 27, 2016 at 8:50 am #42064I can’t say much about how effective is this Chuwi Hi10 in Win10 Sleep mode, as to avoid the battery drain I quickly activated the Hibernate mode and set it in Power Options in a way the device use it after few hours of inactivity: Enable / Disable Hibernate in Win10
There’s an Energy saver mode too, available in notification area, but I was unhappy with the result.
What’s for sure is Hi10 (with Win10, can’t say about Android) does not seem to be as effective as my cheap Android Lenovo TAB A7-40 A3500 which can last weeks (3-4, if not more !) in standby with wifi activated…June 27, 2016 at 8:35 am #42062Hello Tikilou. Thank you very much for your efforts at using the Hi10 devices with alternative Os and at documenting this !
Too bad your touchscreen is now defective… Does it seem to be a hardware issue ?
How does Linux perform when installed on this Lexar USB 3 flash drive ?
I’ll try later too playing with GRUB and EFI settings once I received my flash drive too (same as yours).
BTW, as you’re probably french, giving more visibility to your work on HFR [TU] Chuwi Vi8 Hi8 Vi10 Hi10 Hi12 – Windows & Android – dedicated thread might help, but I suspect you’re already here, under another pseudo ;-P
June 14, 2016 at 4:30 pm #40955Same error msg for me. After I successfully flashed the BIOS provided by Chuwi’s forum for Hi10 64b Win 10 only (CWI515 model, Q64G421602XXXX serial) Bios: Chuwi Hi10 BIOS for Serial Number 4216020001-42160XXXX https://mega.nz/#!B4pCiapS!d5F14H-mczdDeRAr1m91id25yFtbGvSgtnMy55HFUio
Could it be some kind of protection ?
June 9, 2016 at 12:54 pm #40345Thank you Tikilou for sharing this !
June 9, 2016 at 12:48 pm #40344As far as I can tell, your device was dualboot out of the box so it’s sure to support Android. You’ve posted this in at least 3 different forums now and I think you need to make that disclaimer much more clear. Chances are people with older hardware versions are going to try this and end up with messed up devices. Lots of people are still hoping that older revisions might be able to support Android, which has not been confirmed anywhere yet.
Well, after the funny disclaimer, Tikilou clearly stated his tutorial is based on his own experience, for a specific model of Dualboot Hi10: “CWI515 model, with Q64G4221605XXXXX serial“, those details are even present in the name of the files he kindly provided.
People wanting to upgrade their device have to, at least, ensure they have the same hardware/BIOS/serial nbr; and if they don’t, they have to accept the risk it implies to not stick with what they bought. Unfortunately, Chuwi’s forum isn’t much help. Eg: see how BIOS updates are provided, no details at all about which version number you’re going to have, compared to the one on your device… How professional is it ?
Again, thank you Tikilou for your feedback !
June 8, 2016 at 7:38 am #40252Wow, [/b]thank you very much[/b] Tikilou for this well documented post and linked files !!
When I’ll have time, and after a proper backup of my Win10 only tablet, I’ll give it a try so I can enjoy Android when needed on the device.June 6, 2016 at 1:47 pm #40019Salut Tikilou, thanks for the feedback and the details. Have you installed/updated by yourself this Hi10 Chuwi to get a Dualboot version (and if yes, how .), or you simply ordered a Dualboot one ?
Could you please provide us your serial number and BIOS version ? Last information can be obtained using the commande line: Wmic bios get serialnumber.
Mine’s details are:
Model CWI515 Intel 64b
Bio version: P02A_C106.60D
Serial: Q64G421602XXXXXI’d love to be able to use Android too as Win10 is not really enjoyable on such small device in tablet mode, UI and system are not as friendly as Android IMHO.
Thank you in advance !
May 27, 2016 at 7:42 am #38763Open run, type cmd, press enter. Then paste “wmic bios get smbiosbiosversion” without double quotes, and press enter. GIYF =)
May 26, 2016 at 11:13 am #38666There are many ways to get BIOS’ version, one of them is using the commande line, enter:
wmic bios get smbiosbiosversion -
