Hi,
Is there a dummy guide to upgrade the bios?
I copied the bios file(only the updated bios files) to thumbdrive(formatted fat32) and plugged into usb-otg cable along with keboard, mouse. Boot up the unit, hit ESC key and the boot manager is not showing. It continues with the platform selection (windows10/android).
Do I need more steps?Appreciate your kind help.
Thanks,
Cheah
April 17, 2016 at 7:34 am #33870I can’t get it to work, so no guide. My bios just will not flash tired everything. I’ll have the factory dual boot soon so will not bother with my unit since it’s not even working, wasted too much time on it already. Downloads will be here soon: http://techtablets.com/chuwi-hi8-pro/downloads/ But I’m not happy with this first batch Hi8 Pro, such a crappy tablet. Huge issues on mine, it’s junk. Waste of $100. And it will cost me about 50 usd to post back for a replacement unit with the ALiexpress seller, it’s not worth it. So ordered that new one from BG, which should be here soon.
Hi Chirs,
Thanks for the reply. I am not sure whether my unit is first batch or later batch. How do we find out?
Maybe I will give a try…nothing to lose since the table is so unstable.
Thanks,
Cheah
April 16, 2016 at 1:36 pm #33778Here is the bios: I’m uploading the Android Rom and Windows 10 image now.
Hi Chris,
Is the image with new bios for dualboot? If yes, is there any guide I can follow blindly? 🙂
Thanks alot!

April 16, 2016 at 1:33 pm #33777Hi, cheah, Thanks for the serial number. Did yours came with dual OS? The tool I used is an FTDI FT2232H mini module wired to the SPI flash. I use it since I soft bricked the tab with the unofficial dual boot bios. Regards
Hi Pal,
Yupe…my unit is dualboot..the tool you explained seems complicated to me. :/ Im just a noob here…
Hope there is step by step guide so can I can follow blindly 😀
April 15, 2016 at 2:18 pm #33657I’m sorry. I can’t understand English so much because a translation site is used. No, I downloaded it from baidu. This is something to make the single boot a dual boot. A screen shot will be put tomorrow. When a Bios update is started, you indicate -press esc tocontinue-, so a esc key is pressed then.
Hi Yutaka,
No worries.. Thanks for the help. 谢谢
April 15, 2016 at 2:16 pm #33655Hi Chris,
Do you mind to share where you downloaded all the bootable file and new bios?
Maybe I will give it a try. 🙂
Thanks
April 15, 2016 at 2:02 pm #33652Hi Yutaka,
Thanks for the reply. I cant download from baidu. Do you have another download source?
Mind to share a screen shot of the usb drive with all the files inside?
So you use bios to update it? (pressing ESC key during startup?)
Thanks!
April 15, 2016 at 1:41 pm #33647I succeeded to write bios of a dual boot in hi8 pro of a single boot. But when writing in android using intel phone flashtool, I fail. I fail in 25%. Is there a countermeasure?
Hi Yutaka,
Mine to share how did you do it? My Unit is dualboot unit. Are you using this official bios from here?

Thanks!
April 15, 2016 at 1:05 pm #33645I flashed the new official dual boot BIOS with an external HW tool. It’s not compatible with my Hi8 Pro. Blank screen. My SN is 34XX. Could someone who owns a dual boot device post the serial number. I guess Chuwi modified something in the HW to fix the issues we (their beta testers) facing.
Hi Pal,
Where can I look for the SN? BTW, what HW tool are you using? I saw a tutorial at Youtube, it used the bios boot to update the bios? (hit ESC key when boot, something like that. Is this possible?Sorry Noob here)
Thanks!
Is it this? last 4 digit number? Mine something like this..

April 15, 2016 at 6:30 am #33599Don’t worry when my type-c hub to USB 3 adapter arrives soon from Amazon, I’ll flash mine and risk the brick. No real loss since mine is running like a POS anyway with screen issues, power on problems and randomly powering off. I hope this will fix it. I have a fixed factory Hi8 Pro on the way to review.
Hi Chris,
Did you successfully upgraded the bios? I have the same issues you are facing with additional wifi disconnecting often and cant connect it back until u reboot it. It happened for both windows and android.
Did you try this new bios?
