Teclast X3 Plus Review

Where to buy

Teclast’s X3 Plus is the first of the Intel Apollo Lakes to get 6GB of RAM over the standard 4GB we normally see on these devices. Two Samsung LPDDR3 3GB RAM chips in dual channel. Powered by the common Intel Celeron N3450 quad-core with a maximin turbo of 2.2Ghz. Intel HD 500 GPU.

Other specs include an 11.6″ 250 lux bright 1080p IPS screen, metal build with kickstand and full-size USB 3.0 port. The tablet also has an optional stylus and type cover style keyboard. Below is the full video review with Pros, & Cons and rating.

Conclusion:

The X3 Plus is a decent tablet with some very good thermals, even gaming on the system didn’t see the max temps on the chipset go over 65 degrees C. Which means Teclast did their homework here and used a copper heatsink and thermal pads to dissipate heat away from the chipset.

M.2 SSD slot

The Teclast X3 Plus does have an M.2 SATA3 SSD slot, but you have to open it up to get access to it.

The addition of an M.2 SSD Sata3 22 x 42mm slot is great, however, you’ll have to crack it open to add it. And then go into the bios and change the boot order. Benchmarks, as seen in the video, are very good, Geekbench 4 is the highest I’ve seen yet on this chipset, aided by those thermals perhaps. However, the GPU didn’t perform as good as it does in the Chuwi Hi13 when gaming. And then there is the issue of it only using wireless N while the rest of the competition has moved over to the much faster Intel Wireless AC dual band 3165 chip.

Lastly, the stylus is a complete disappointment, no pressure levels which makes it no better than a more accurate pointer. The touchpad is also far too short to make it usable.

  1. Hi first thank you for your review! i juste have a Little question about dismantling is it glued ? Or like the x3 pro clipped ? And is it possible to change WiFi module ? Thanks !!

    • Sorry for the delay, but useful for others to know. It’s clipped in. Not glued. You cannot change the wifi chip is soldered to the motherboard.

  2. I think if it had Wireless AC and a better stylus it would be a really good tablet. Another case of “almost” hopefully the next Teclast tablets will switch over to a slimmer bezel design, Wifi AC and even 3:2 ratio would be great.

    • Hi, I want to know how to open it to add a second SSD. There are some video?

      • Sorry no video on opening it from me. You have to use a pry tool and be careful. The SSD slot is SATA3 2242 spec. No room for larger drives.
