I was thinking of getting one of these (when the laptop arrives):
September 11, 2017 at 9:51 am #71918External is definitely 3.5mm since i’ve accidentally plugged it into the audio jack and it fits snugly, internal cant be 2.1mm, i’ll say something like 1.5mm.
You could probably get away with 2.1mm internal but it wouldn’t be a tight fit.
September 11, 2017 at 12:44 pm #71962Hmm you think this then?
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/253052780349
There also seems to be a 3.5/1.35 option which from the sounds of your comment is probably correct
September 11, 2017 at 3:12 pm #71965I have no idea how the standards of dc jack works, the pin on the laptop itself does appears to be 1.35mm wide but the charger’s inner diameter has to be larger than that no?
not sure if the stated dimensions is for the charger itself or for its intended receptor but if you can only find 1.35 and 2.1, 1.35 would be the safer choice.
September 11, 2017 at 10:55 pm #71975You have internal and external dimensions. The diameter of the outside of the pin and the diameter of the inside hole. At this stage I am thinking external diameter 3.5 internal 1.35 based on the above.
May have to wait to get my hands on it unless anyone actually measures
September 12, 2017 at 8:53 am #71986Just measured it with calipers, outer diameter = 3.49mm, inner diameter = 1.33mm, cable length = 1.1m
Quite a short charging cable, will have to look for an extension cable I think, trouble is it’ll need to be able to handle 3 amps.
September 12, 2017 at 8:56 am #71987I measured yesterday the external and is between 2.5 and 3 mm.

Do you think it won’t handle 3A?
September 13, 2017 at 10:45 am #72061September 13, 2017 at 1:14 pm #72068Eh, I prefer the wall plug style and also my post referred to AU plug.
I’ll order these and let y’all know how I go

I found this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3m-DC-3-5mm-1-35mm-Power-Extension-Cable-For-CCTV-Security-IP-Cameras-/222530991989?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368 Do you think it won’t handle 3A?
Yes that should handle 3A, you want 20AWG minimum, which you’ll get 0.1V drop per meter, so that 3m cable would lose 0.3V off the 12V output, hopefully the drop shouldn’t be too much problem for laptop, wouldn’t want a bigger drop than that though.
I just measured the output voltage at the end of the cable of the power supply they come with and its 12.21V, so theoretically you’ll get about 11.9V out of the end of the cable with that 3m extension, for total cable length of ~4m including the 1m built into the power supply.
Or you could get get a whole new power supply, the thing with those brick ones though is that if you’re sitting at a table for example the brick part is always in the middle and ends up having to either hang in mid air and pull the end of the cable unless you stick something heavy on it so it doesn’t move.
Might try look for a extension cable with right angled end
September 14, 2017 at 6:40 am #72110such a shame that the chinese manufacturers hasnt fully transitioned to type c yet, the chargers and cables will cost at least a few times more than a normal 12v 3a charger but it would still be a better purchase in the long run
