April 11, 2017 at 7:26 pm #65100But it was working before right? https://techtablets.com/forum/topic/first-chuwi-hi13-topics/page/7/#post-65091
Hold the power button down for 14 seconds, then let it charge overnight and then hold the power button 4 seconds it should power on.

April 11, 2017 at 7:53 pm #65103Ohh the infamous “sleeping mode” syndrome from Chuwi ?
If it’s true, this problem existed in Hi12 as well.
April 11, 2017 at 8:02 pm #65104its strange how it happened when i plugged power cable in
April 11, 2017 at 9:25 pm #65109No such issue on my unit
No, you need to hold the power button for 14 seconds to ensure it’s well and truly off. Then charge it, red light should come on then. If it doesn’t something’s wrong with it 🙁

Hold the power button to do a power flush, then plug it back in. Of course this will void any warranty, so try those options first. Just ordered mine, hopefully this won’t be a wide spread issue.
April 12, 2017 at 5:37 pm #65174I got my HI13 yesterday and it arrived with a completely dead battery. Would not turn on.
I plugged in the charger and let it charge for a few hours. I booted it with the charger attached and it showed about 70% charged. But when I unplugged the USB-C charging cable it powered off immediately (as if no battery power at all). It will not boot at all without the charging cable attached.
I tried three other USB-C power sources including one rated at 12v 1.5A. With that adapter the red charging LED came on shortly, but went out after several minutes.
When Windows is booted with the charging cable attached, the Windows charging icon is animated showing charging for about 20 seconds immediately after boot or resume from sleep. Then it stops showing the charging animation. The battery level shows as 7% in Windows.
Seems like maybe there’s something wrong with the batteries or the charging protection circuit.
I’ve tried charging while Windows active, Windows sleeping, Windows shutdown, in BIOS screen… The red charging LED stays on (not flashing) and batteries do not take a charge.
I’ve read that there is the 3×1 followed by 10 second long press power on sequence. And a 14 second long press power off. Are there other special button sequences? The only way I could get to the BIOS screen was through Windows advanced boot options. Hooking up a keyboard and pressing ESC/DEL (or any F-key) didn’t bring up the BIOS or boot options screen.
Suggestions?
Jon
April 12, 2017 at 5:45 pm #65177Not good some units are going out like this. The tablet needs 2A or more to charge, this I’ve tested with my own 12v chargers. So maybe it’s the power supply at fault in your case since it boots up with it connected, but not enough to charge?
If not check with the retailer you got it from what they can do to help. Best of luck!

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30April 12, 2017 at 6:41 pm #65185I’ve seen others mention aftermarket 12v 2A USB-C chargers and power banks. Any recommendations?
Since I have a Nexus 5X, something compatible with its rapid charging protocol that also works for the HI13 would be nice.
EDIT: I borrowed a 12v 3A adapter and tried it on the HI13. No change/no charging.
My suspicion is that the tablet batteries discharged below what the charging circuit will start charging at. I am awaiting response from Chuwi or the reseller.

April 13, 2017 at 11:25 am #65216Not good, I hope Chuwi has a solution or the reseller.
I’ve just ordered this charger EU Samsung Type-C 25W charger I think it will do the job fine. I don’t like the size of the stock one, it’s annoying me.

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30April 13, 2017 at 12:38 pm #65221I wrote about this in another thread/post!
I also received a unit where the battery was on 0% capacity. Seems Chuwi does not pre-charge(or maybe even test) the batteries installed.
I was also puzzled a little by this, as I have never yet purcased a battery powered product where the batteries are shipped 100%(or very close to)discharged.
This was also why I suggested to Chris to advice people to first charge their units before even attempting to turn-on their devices.
And since I have a background in electronics, I know batteries(of any type) should never be left 100% discharged, as it will make the battery short(thus creating a heavy powerdraw from the powersupply unit and possibly damage it) and also loose battery capacity, as the chemicals inside is broken down when in this discharged state.
However, I can’t say 100% if this is THE problem causing the issues reported in this particular thread, but it’s at least a issue on it’s own, in my humble opinion! 😉
